Jamie Carragher urges Spurs to get rid of £100k-a-week star who is just ‘not good enough’

Jamie Carragher has urged Spurs to move on from Hugo Lloris.

He believes that if Tottenham want to progress, they must sell Hugo Lloris, who has been a shadow of his former self.

The goalkeeper has been the subject of much debate following yet another poor performance last weekend against Newcastle, in which he was responsible for both goals conceded, resulting in Spurs’ second consecutive league defeat.

After the game, BBC pundit Garth Crooks slammed Lloris, claiming that the club ‘will win nothing’ with the Frenchman in goal. He claimed that the World Cup winner is no longer the ‘world-class’ goalkeeper that many believe he is, and that Spurs should look for a replacement.

And now former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has echoed Crooks’ views in his latest column for The Telegraph. He stated that the French keeper is not ‘good enough to take Spurs to the next level’.

The veteran goalkeeper is known for being an excellent shot-stopper, but he ‘makes too many mistakes,’ making him untrustworthy in goal. Carragher said that it is a position “where Spurs have been lacking for a while.”

And it’s something the club’s hierarchy might be thinking about. According to recent reports, Tottenham are looking for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, with Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Leeds United’s Illan Meslier both on their radar.

Carragher also suggested that Conte is correct in asking for complete backing in the following two transfer windows to assemble the squad that will ‘meet his objectives.’
