‘Isn’t happy’ – Sky Sports man spots Conte fuming and ‘shouting’ at Spurs summer signing

By Mehdi Gokal -

Antonio Conte gave Emerson Royal an earful during his team’s Champions League group stage match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Spurs needed to get back on track in the Champions League after losing to Sporting Lisbon in their previous group stage match, which left the Lilywhites with three points from two games.

But Spurs found themselves level at the break and according to Sky Sports’ Clinton Morrison who was reporting on the game, Conte was seen shouting at the Brazilian right-back.

Morrison reported on Soccer Special:

“Conte isn’t happy, he’s shouting at Emerson to get forward. He wants his team to get forward on the front foot.”

Conte’s frustrations with Emerson’s performance, emulates the feeling among Spurs fans, with the Brazilian full-back coming under a lot of criticism for being one of the team’s weak links.

Conte might have a right-back issue despite having options in Doherty and Spence as alternatives. The Italian earlier remarked that he doesn’t believe the pair have what it takes to start for Spurs leaving him with a sort of ‘choosing the best from the worst’ situation.

Unfortunately we don’t have anyone better. Did you see Doherty when he came on agaist ar?enal? Trying to pass across our own penalty box and nearly setting up ars for another goal!!! He’s a nightmare. Spence must really be doing something wrong in training not to be able to get in front of those 2.

Royal isn’t a wingback, and I suspect a fairly ordinary orthodox fullback. Not the boy’s fault but ffs, we have to call him out as not being good enough. It’s not our fault Levy’s the facking chairman either, but we can still moan about it! 😂

Lets be honest not having the skill set to” beat his man and cross the ball” fairly accurately , shouldn’t that be a pre-requisite for a Premier League , Champions League player ?
As for improving , you would also think that anybody under , say 28 , must surely be learning still ?
Royal is not the worst player I’ve seen , but at the moment he’s defo NOT IMPROVED and might be regressing ?
There are very good and great players to be had – who’d heard of him before he signed ? We are Spurs , a world top 20 club and we should be striking gold with our financial situation seemingly well under control .
It seems incredible , especially now , that a player such as Haaland would not give us a second thought , not a milli-second . You have to ask — WHY ???

Emerson is dreadful. Can’t pass, no pace and looks completely out of his depth. Got to wonder how bad the other two look in training. Going to be a long season at this rate.

Hard to criticise Emerson when he hasn’t the skill set yet to beat his man and cross the ball accurately.

Maybe Emerson will improve, he’s trying, paying his coaches out of his own pocket, seems a likeable guy. Hope it goes well for him.
