Interim Wales boss not interested in a war of words with Mourinho over Bale

Interim Wales boss Rob Page has responded to Jose Mourinho’s concern about the handling of Gareth Bale’s fitness by Arsenal’s Albert Stuivenberg as the attacker joins up with the Welsh national team for the November international games.

Bale is known for being prone to injuries and he was injured the last time that he joined the Welsh national team in an international window.

Tottenham has worked very hard to get him nearer to his best and the Lilywhites will not want him to return with yet another injury.

Mourinho had earlier said that he is worried about the fitness of his players in the hands of Stuivenberg because of his association with Arsenal, who are Tottenham’s fierce rivals.

But Page, who has stepped in as the country’s manager in place of the suspended Ryan Giggs, has attempted to calm the nerves of Mourinho by saying that the welfare of his players in the national team will be well taken care of.

“We’ve got Joe Rodon don’t forget, and Ben Davies,” he said as quoted by Wales Online

“Tottenham players have been involved with this squad for a number of years now. We’ve got three of his players and of course, he’s going to show an interest.

“But Albert’s been involved with the Welsh set-up for a couple of years and there’s never been any problems.

“So I’ve no response to that at all. We’ll go about our business to get the players into the best possible shape for games.”
