“In the next two or three weeks…” – Fabrizio Romano provides a significant update on Harry Kane

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane finds himself at the center of intense speculation as his contract expiration draws near.

The England international has captured the attention of several elite clubs, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and PSG, heightening the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Manchester United have emerged as a strong contender, with reports suggesting that Kane is their primary target for the upcoming transfer window.

Bayern Munich’s CEO, Oliver Kahn, has openly expressed admiration for the English striker, viewing him as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Meanwhile, PSG have also entered the fray, as their director recently held discussions with Kane’s representatives, displaying keen interest in acquiring the prolific forward.

However, convincing Kane to leave England could prove challenging, given his desire to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal-scoring record. If he decides to leave Tottenham this summer while remaining in the Premier League, Manchester United appears to be the most viable option.

Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update, confirming Manchester United interest in Kane is ‘concrete’, and that they deem him as the perfect striker for their squad.

Yet, Romano acknowledged that the negotiation process will not be swift or straightforward, potentially stretching over several weeks.

He told GiveMeSport:

“In terms of reality and a concrete situation happening, we can say that they have an interest. They really appreciate Harry Kane and they consider him the perfect kind of striker for their football.”

But they also know that it’s not going to be fast or easy so don’t expect any deal in the next two or three weeks for Harry Kane because this is not going to happen.”

Meanwhile, Dean Jones earlier provided an update from Arne Slot’s first interview with Tottenham, asserting that the club has assured the manager of their unwillingness to sell Kane.

Nevertheless, the reality remains uncertain, as Kane, approaching 30 and yet to add a major trophy to his illustrious career, may be enticed by the prospect of fulfilling his aspirations elsewhere.

Tottenham’s recent lack of silverware and absence from the Champions League next season could sway the striker’s decision.

Financially, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy faces a dilemma. While he may be reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival, the potential risk of incurring a significant loss, estimated at £80 to £100 million, could impact his stance.

If Kane does not sign a new contract, he could leave on a free transfer next summer, potentially pressuring Levy into considering a sale.

With multiple factors at play, the coming transfer window promises to be decisive in determining whether Harry Kane remains a Tottenham player or embarks on a new chapter in his illustrious career.
