Paul Merson cannot seem to keep away from Tottenham’s business at the moment, and the former Arsenal man has made yet another ridiculous statement.
Despite watching Tottenham get all the goals and the points in their 3-0 win over Leeds United yesterday, he claims that Spurs fans would rather have their team playing the way Leeds played even though their team won the game.

The Special One isn’t a specialist in beautiful attacking football, but he knows how to set his team up to win games.
He has managed to get a system that takes good advantage of Tottenham’s strengths to win games this season, and they are still in the race for four trophies.
Despite the wonderful season they are having, Merson thinks he knows what will make Spurs’ fans happy, and he said that the club’s fans would rather have their team playing how Marcelo Bielsa’s side plays.
“If you are a Tottenham fan, you would probably want to watch the Leeds way,” Merson told Sky Sports as quoted by Football365.
“Harry Kane, what is he working on? One shot one game. A top centre-forward like that, he wants to score goals.
“If you are not going to win the league and you are not going to win trophies and Tottenham haven’t, you would want to win the Golden Boot if you are Harry Kane, and at the moment, I don’t see that happening at all because he is not getting enough chances.”
Merson really is a sad man, how he has a job as a pundit I will never know, he clearly lacks the very basic understanding of the game and he certainly has zero understanding of Spurs fans.
Leeds shipped six against Man Utd, yeah sure, Spurs fans would love to see that. Kane and Son are on the verge of smashing goal-scoring records but of course, Merson ignores that little nugget.
Man is an amateur pundit and it shows almost every time he opens his huge gob.

Well we just knew a section of the pundits/media would resist the ‘winning mentality’ rebrand at Spurs with every fibre of their being – and you could guess which individuals would bite back most.
‘Merse’ is one.
They want to keep the ‘fancy dans’ and ‘it’s only tottenham lads/spursy’ thing going – keep those easy cliches flowing and keep Spurs away from the silverware.
Harry has 10 goals and 11 assists. Spurs have scored 29 goals. Harry has direct involvement in 72% of the goals. And Harry could still win the golden boot as he’s only 3 behind Salah.
Whereas Mr Oboomerang has 3 goals, 1 assist. I know which player Spurs fans would prefer to see wearing the white shirt.
Can Mr Merse not see that Harry is a true team player? He was criticised in earlier seasons for being a selfish goal poacher. Which is it, Merse?
This coming from a player who played in probably in one of the most boring football teams in living memory.
