“I like to fight” – Antonio Conte shares his latest thoughts on the top-four race

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur picked up six of six points this week after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United. The north London club is in the thick of the top four race as their 3-1 win over The Hammers put them in a position to leap over them in the Premier League standings.

Spurs are in fifth place, ahead of Manchester United and West Ham, and trail Arsenal by three points, which could be made up when they face off against one another in the North London Derby that needs to be rescheduled.

After their win over West Ham on Sunday, manager Antonio Conte spoke at his news conference where the Italian tactician stated that he’s ‘enjoying’ the process of where his squad finds itself in at the moment.

“You know very well that I like to fight, I like to fight to win and to win in this case, to win a Premier League. I like to fight to be competitive, to have the possibility to fight and then you know very well only one team is able to win but I think that my past gives me the chance, and also I think I deserve to have this chance to fight to win,” Conte said, per Football.London.

“But for sure now I am enjoying a lot the work I am doing with these players, with Tottenham because for sure I have taken in this moment a level lower than the top team that there are in this league, but I’m enjoying a lot to see the improvement and today honestly I asked my players I want to enjoy seeing you play football and now I am seeing we are a really good team. Now I am ready to play every game and to play against every opponent, and I’m sure that today is a very difficult to play against us.”

When Tottenham returns from the international break, they’ll welcome Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, whose’s also fighting to generate some space from the relegation zone.
