“I don’t see Arsenal losing” – Paul Merson declares Tottenham continues its winless drought against their north London rivals

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur will look to snap its two-match losing streak in the Premier League following back-to-back 3-0 losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea. Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad will face another London rival this upcoming weekend in the North London derby against Arsenal.

However, one person believes Tottenham’s winless drought will continue against Arsenal. The Gunners legend Paul Merson declares there is “no way” his former club will lose the match while speaking to talkSPORT (via Express).

“I don’t see Arsenal losing the game. There is a lot of pressure now on Tottenham. The game (against Chelsea), in the end, it was a bit like watching an under-10’s team playing against a man’s team. It was shocking.”

Arsenal is off to a slow start as they’re in 13th place with six points. They have won their last two fixtures following three straight defeats to open the Premier League season, so they’ll be looking to carry that momentum against Tottenham.

Tottenham will look to stop their two-losing streak as they look to get back on track to finish in the top four. Nonetheless, a loss to Arsenal would open the door to more criticism, especially if they lose as they did to Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

Sometimes at some point in the season we can write about the good or bad foot.

Levy will try his best to stay even if we get new financial backers…you better believe it!

He was quoted as saying he wants his son to step into his shoes one day hopefully? The legacy

I hate agreeing with Merson, I really do. But I can’t see us winning. I can’t actually see us scoring. Harry-I-Don’t-Care won’t, Sonny is our one hope but who is going to provide him with the chances? Certainly not Harry I-D-C. Definitely not Lo Celso – oh such a waste of space; such a bad buy and hopeless footballer as well as a poor club man. We’ll be lucky to avoid the bottom six this year and next season we stand a real chance of being relegated. And if Levy thinks he can buy his way out of this mess, he’s going to be horribly wrong again. No decent footballer is going to want to come to Spurs in the foreseeable future. I feel sorry for Sarr because the poor guy is going to be playing for as bad a team as the one he will be leaving. So a half-empty stadium by February, financial problems by next year, a fire sale of our best players in 2022/23 to help keep the club afloat (if they haven’t left by then). This where Levy and ENIC have got us. So bloody sad. The rebuild will take a decade.

Not sure how i am contradicting myself at all, the business model relies on success on the pitch and i say again with the right football team it will be a major success in every respect

you seem to forget a business model means it is good for any bank account not only ENICS

your resentment of ENIC is clouding your opinion of the business, which is said by the very best out there by top businesses from all over the world

Utilize what players we have…? The biggest issue is central midfield & ball retention.. PEG apart & maybe Skipp we dont have people in there with the energy required & awareness to transition the ball from defence… thats been our biggest issue for at least 12-18 months… we’re worse now than then due to Kane not wanting to be there & losing Toby meant we lost our best ball playing centre back. We’ll be around 10th-12th when Nuno is fired around Feb is what I reckon

Correct. They are still banking on becoming a member of a super league to tie up the loose ends. Harry Kane knows all this stuff, which is why he wants out.

Levy lied to him and his family and let him down, Kane can’t stand Levy anymore but with three years on his deal, Levy holds all the cards.

He holds those cards as a result of being deceitful basically…

I dont often agree with Merson but I do with this comment… Nuno should drop Kane & play the same team that beat Citeh .. if lo celso starts we’re doomed.

You are spot on. Poch was causing a huge long term problem for ENIC, which is why he wasn’t backed. They engineered his demise as Spurs boss, just enough to get him out the door.

They still want top 4 because they got used to the income over that period but without someone punching massively above his eight in the dugout, it will never happen with ENIC.

The stadium was originally pitched as THE solution to us being a Champion’s League quality team. Poch got us there at the Lane and while we were tenants at Wembley. This was never the plan for Levy, they wanted us dick*ng about in 6-7th place to keep fan expectation and expenditure on the team as low as possible.

Now Levy’s only route was the pathetic crawling back to Poch in the summer, that didn’t work so we end up with a manager sacked by Wolves.

However, my theory is that despite PSG digging their heels in for now, that he has agreed in principle to return. The reason why finding a top manager was difficult was because everyone knows it’s a short term post.

Why are we even here? Because of the reasons above, Poch wasn’t backed because Levy thought he could engineer everything his way. However, his utter lack of understanding of football is just staggering after 22 years and he’s f*cked up again, just as he did with Jol. Needing Redknapp to come in as a fixer.

Levy is just a complete t*t…

I don’t remotely see how the business model of “ENIC is actually the very best out there” when we’ve had 22 years of failure aside from one insignificant cup. You contradict yourself when judged by the hard evidence.
Their model is only good for enic’s bank account nothing else. It’s an utter failure when applied to a football club. Which is why nobody else has adopted it.

I agree with much of what you say, however if the right buyers come along then Spurs really are a sleeping giant and the business model set up by ENIC is actually the very best out there, if and only if you can get it right on the pitch

Many buyers now are looking at potential and for me that is all Spurs are
in relation to the squad we are so far away from the top four it is frightening

Not sure where any of this is going. What even are we. Levy got lucky with Poch who took us to the promise land which I believe was way too soon for ENIC who were not prepared. Poch made ENIC a bucket load of money and the build cost kept going up as Levy watched the CL money keep coming in. This massively effected expectations which is now frustrating fans as we fall from grace and cannot be sustained under ENIC’s business model (or management of the squad).
When you have the highest season ticket prices but a mid table team, which over the last two/three seasons has seen us play un-watchable football, you would think the prices would need to come down in line with the market…however, if you look at Ars, their owners have managed to keep charging top rates so I guess ENIC will continue as long as they can.
This is going to get worse before it gets better. The only real solution is for ENIC to move on, just don’t think there are enough buyers out there that will pay the over inflated price Levy will want for it…

If we get beat by Arsenal, Nuno rightly or wrongly is under pressure if he is not already, once again we have a manager who seems lost in his tactical awareness of how best to use what players he has got, albeit
it is not the greatest squad

I hate saying this but if you randomly said to Harry Redknapp come in and get these playing i am not saying they become world beaters but believe me they would be so much better than we currently are IMO
