Stefan de Vrij has debunked reports linking him with a move to Tottenham where he would be reunited with his former manager, Antonio Conte.
Spurs have been targeting the Dutchman who was an important member of Conte’s team at Inter Milan.
Managers usually raid their former clubs to sign players whom they think are missing at their current sides.
Several reports have made De Vrij the perfect target for Conte. However, the defender had the chance to debunk these rumours recently and did.
Asked to confirm or deny rumours linking him with a reunion with Conte at Tottenham, he told Sport Nieuws: “Deny! Because I don’t know anything about anything.
“The connection was maybe made a bit quickly because the trainer I have worked with is now working there. But I don’t know anything. He (Conte) hasn’t approached me about it yet.”

Conte enjoyed outstanding success at Inter Milan and knows the Serie A club is desperately selling off their players.
It’s natural for him to want a piece of that, but Spurs don’t need to shop at Inter Milan.
There are several other top defenders, even in the Premier League, who would easily do a good job at the Tottenham Stadium.
If Conte can get the current stars at the club to raise their level of performance, he might not need new signings until the end of the season when plenty of better options would be available.
