These YouTube viewers are pretty excited over the prospect of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg joining Tottenham this summer. Having watched the tape, it looks to me as if the praise is well earned.
My first thought is that the boy appears to be made out the stuff that they build Terminators from. He stays on his feet, and he does not stop coming at you. Tottenham needs players like Højbjerg, who everyone can rely upon. Right now our midfield is a lucky bag; you might get a stellar sequence against a great side, then the following week, it is taken apart with moderate ease by a side scrapping against relegation (hello Norwich City, I trust you and yours are all safe and well).
Our man Joe Fish wrote a cracking appraisal some 4 months ago, which I commend to you, and Joe was right, he lacks glamour, but that’s a selling point.
True grit in football is like the eggs that bind in a recipe, keeps everything together, and helps wins you stuff.
A very good point, well made. Why would anyone keep Sissoko over Winks though? Winks is by far the better footballer. Sissoko is a battering ram who offers very little else. Now, don’t get me wrong I don’t rate either too highly, but if we had to get rid of one I would sell Sissoko. If we are to move forward we need footballers. Whenever someone passes to Sissoko I cringe, I can’t see Sissoko and Hoijberg playing a quick 1-2 in a tight space! If we bought the Dane, Dier could deputise, hence no reason to keep Sissoko.
He said sell Winks so I am guessing Sissy😃
A definite step up as a defensive midfielder. He is not the finished article but we wouldn’t be in for him if he was.
Who would you keep, Sissoko or Winks?
If we have to sell to buy then sell Winks to get him
Always thought we are too nice a team, too many non vocal players. We need a bit of grit, somebody who won’t accept unprofessional conduct. I read a story about a Spurs away game earlier in this season or towards the end of last season someone was passing the Spurs dressing room after they had just been beaten. He was shocked by what he heard. I thought he was going to tell a story about how he was disgusted with the foul language and the roaring and shouting. But no, what shocked him was the absolute silence. If that had a been a Man United under Ferguson dressing room there would be ructions. I keep saying this but it doesn’t help that Hugo is the captain either. Hopefully this guy from Southampton will add some controlled aggression into us.
I totally agree. He’s a very good fit for us – just what we’re missing. I like the fact he ca move the ball forward after winning it back. He can pass short or long and move well with the ball at his feet too. He’s a rock!
