“I am very happy” – Antonio Conte comments on Giovani Lo Celso’s performance against Bayern Munich

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Giovani Lo Celso had an impressive match this week in the UEFA Champions League against FC Bayern Munich. Villarreal defeated the German giants 1-0 in a surprising result during the quarterfinal matchups.

Lo Celso played all 90 minutes against Bayern Munich, providing five key passes on 70 touches and completing 36 of 42 passes for an 86-percent completion percentage for the Spanish side. The 26-year-old also won eight of his 19 total duels.

During Spurs manager Antonio Conte’s news conference ahead of their matchup against Aston Villa, the Italian tactician was asked about the Argentine midfielder’s performance in the Champions League.

Conte stated that he is happy to see Lo Celso succeed in a league he’s familiar with and added that the Argentine needed to play with continuity.

“First of all, I’m really happy for his great performance. He needed to play with regularity, with continuity. For this reason, he went to Spain in a league he knows very well because he played very well, and Tottenham bought him when he played in that league,” Conte said.

“To go back there and show he’s in good form is good for everybody, especially because Tottenham paid a lot of money for him. I am very happy because he is playing every game, he’s showing he’s a good player, but I never said he’s not a good player.”

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Villarreal is more than happy with Lo Celso. The La Liga club plans are to open talks with Tottenham to keep the midfielder, as there’s no buy option included in the loan deal.

Commentators said Ndom had done well. They must have taken a fully loaded manilla envelope off a baldy headed charlatan. Agreed, Ndom was awful. He looked less mobile than he usually did. How we get rid of him is beyond me. No one will go near his wages.

The Welsh mug? I assume you mean Bale who has carried Wales almost single handed to their first World Cup in 60 years. We got far better value out of him than we did with Portuguese fraud who managed him.

I watched the Spammers last night and it’s obvious getting rid of Ndombele will be tough. He scored a simple tap-in, and apart from that he was frankly useless. Moaning, shaking his head, losing possession, endless back passes, feigning injuries several times and constantly getting booed. He’s a 10m player at best. Two 18 year olds started for Lyon and showed much greater maturity than this waste of space.

We’ll most likely receive a decent fee for Lo Celso, but as for Ndombele Levy might have to take the Dele route

He performed in the occasional game. But he could not sustain a level required for the premier league.
He need to play into form and he couldn’t do that with the physicality of the premier league.
Good he is doing well in a physically less demanding league.
But he is a list of players that we have had that are not strong enough for the demands of English top league football.
Conte is bringing this insight to the club so hopefully we stop making this mistake.

He was too weak for the Premier League. Watched the Hamburglar last night, he can stay put in France.

He does have the ability to keep the ball moving, but for £40m+ I expected much, much more. He has a bit of nastiness about him, but he doesn’t show it enough in his game. His tackling and shooting are far too weak. He is just not suited to English football.

Yeah but did he get a goal or an assist? Because that is what he failed to do at Spurs over several seasons for the most part, in complete contrast to Kulu in just a few games. Hope he stays in Spain, one match means nothing, I’ve seen all I want to see of Lo No Show thank you.

We could have a half team of discarded as useless Spurs players in Euro semi-finals.

I was thinking that. The problem Spurs have, and I’m sure it’s not unique. We don’t tend to give players extended runs in the team to come to terms with life in the PL. They get 20 mins here and there. They under perform and fall by the wayside.

How ironic that Lo Celso was MOM against Bayern and that N’Dombele scored the equalizer for Lyon against WHU.
