Antonio Conte is a manager who looks to get the most out of a club that hires him and requires a lot of investment. The Italian tactician has had his teams spend large amounts on building a squad to deliver trophies.

Stops at Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Juventus have won the league with Conte at the helm, but they invested too, so that’s the question with Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs manager admitted that the Tottenham job would require “much more” work during his news conference.

Conte added that he underestimated from his arrival in late November what it would take to get Tottenham “ready to fight and win.” Nevertheless, Conte appears ready to get his hands dirty to fix the squad despite the challenge and cloud surrounding his future.

“This situation pushed me a lot to come here to try to change the past,” Conte said. “It was a great push for me. Then, for sure, when you arrive in one place you understand the difficulty you can find, and the situation you can find at that moment,” Conte said, per The Athletic.

“Maybe in my heart, mind, and head, I thought to find a situation not better, but more ready to fight and to win. And instead, now I found a situation where we have to work, to work a lot, much more than was my expectation to do. But I am not scared about the work. As I repeat, in my life, only through work have I reached an important level in my career.”

Conte is under contract until 2023. There are still plenty of months until the summer months come when he can begin gutting the squad and demanding top-quality players to go up against Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
