“His best game in a Spurs shirt” Tottenham fans still can’t forget how this player performance against Leeds

By Bruce Grove -

Many Tottenham fans were impressed by the performance of Eric Dier against Leeds United.

The defender is arguably the most criticised player at Spurs, but he earned a lot of praise this weekend.

The Englishman is almost always the first choice at the club when a new manager arrives.

But when things go wrong in a game, it’s easy for Dier to be blamed.

He hasn’t covered himself in glory all the time, because he occasionally makes ridiculous errors.

However, he was arguably the best Tottenham defender on the pitch against Leeds.

Following the 2-1 comeback win against the Whites, some fans believe that was the best performance he has delivered for the club.

The Lilywhites posted an image of some of his stats from the game on Twitter and fans filled the comments with reactions. Here are a few.

Dier will play an important role under Antonio Conte. With more performances of that quality, he could be in the team for a very long time.

Dier was a good understudy for Toby and Jan. They could look after him. Now they are gone Dier has not been able to take up the mantle to lead the unit. He is an able Number 2/3, just not cut out to be the main man. Having Sanchez next to him didn’t help, maybe if Romero can string together 3 games in a row we might see a new partnership blossom.

As for this being his best performance, Leeds had their B team out with some C squad players lurking. Anyone who fluffed their lines on Sunday are woefully short in quality. Winks and Emerson stood out like sore thumbs for me.

Lad needs consistency in his performances not whether he can put a good performance.

Being consistently good is the hard part. If he plays as well most games great.
