Heads In The Sand: These Fans Find Another Excuse For Rule-Breaker Aurier

I can’t understand why a not insignificant portion of Tottenham fans have a blind spot when it comes to Serge Aurier.

The excuses for his frequent mistakes are one thing. Because he puts in one good cross in five he can cost us points every few games?

But the rationalising of his off-pitch behaviour is even worse. As Sky Sports reports, Spurs are investigating the 27-year-old for apparently breaking social distancing rules for a third time by getting a haircut.

A third time.

And yet these fans on Twitter, the same ones who excuse his performances, are painting Aurier as some sort of scapegoat because he’s not the only one with a new trim. Some even played the race card; as though they had exhausted all other excuses.

It’s not that Aurier has had his haircut that’s the problem. It’s that he’s plastered him breaching social distancing protocol all over social media, when he has already been warned by the club twice over the same thing.

It’s not his conduct that is frustrating but his stupidity; his brazenness, which paints the club in a bad light when so much good work has been done to undo the PR disaster we walked into at the start of lockdown.

And it’s certainly not about race.

It’s about a guy who is damaging the reputation of the football club because he thinks he’s above the law, and is ignorant enough to brag about it.

Serge is physical, fast and strong. Inconsistent defending and attacking, but his athletic prowess carries him much like sissoko.. I would love a quality right back but at the minute hes the best we got.. Personally i used to hate running at players like aurier, not because hes good at defending, but the man is dangerous, he will put his foot in, risking injuries against liabilities like him, he will seed doubt in some attackers minds. Not the best though.. Hes a fighter, for that reason I’d keep him in our squad because we lack fight.

He is dumb to take photos though. The rules are clear. Aurier is bonzo in disguise. Its just hairdressers instead of prostitutes.

Time for a new right back who can defend, I could care less about his hair cut.

Damaging the clubs reputation!! Think of the mess Frank Lampards having to deal with after his winger gets arrested at 4am on suspicion of rape and later bailed before turning up to train. Nice haircut Serge.
