“He is so passionate” – Son Heung-min discusses the emotion that manager Antonio Conte brings

By Eddie Razo -

Last week, Tottenham Hotspur endured what many consider the most embarrassing loss in club history when they fell 2-1 to NŠ Mura. Antonio Conte’s squad has had the sit on that defeat for a couple of days, so they were eager to get onto the pitch against Brentford.

The north London-based club had some help to start the match as The Bees conceded an own-goal 12 minutes into the game. Son Heung-min would secure the second goal at the 65th-minute mark, and it was all Tottenham needed for the three points.

Tottenham has a two-game winning streak in Premier League competition following their 2-0 victory over Brentford. After the match, Son spoke to the media at his press conference, where the 29-year-old stated that Conte’s enthusiasm provided that boost the squad needed to pick up the win.

“Everyone knows where to be; everyone should be where he asked for, and every player should know what to do. The detail really helps and gives us a boost. We have a lot to improve, but there is a long season to go,” Son said with the Daily Mail relaid his remarks. “He [Conte] is so passionate, I love it. I want to play with passion on the pitch and off the pitch.”

“It is really important even on the pitch he is so passionate, it is really helpful. With our new gaffer, we have had three games, and there is lots to improve. I don’t want to talk about the future, saying is always easy, but we have to prove on the pitch. Now we have to prepare for Sunday, and if we take three points, it can be an unbelievable week.”

Spurs will aim to make it a three-game winning streak when they welcome 19th place Norwich City to Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

No chance of anything but a temporary appearance in top 4 due to the kindness of the fixtures, then once we meet real teams again we’ll drop out. This team simply isn’t good enough and a shadow of Spurs teams even of the more recent past. Poor defence augmented by Romero’s injury, no creativity in midfield and no connection to the attack, bang average wing backs and Kane appears to be wearing moon boots and can no longer run. aside from that we’re fine.
However if we bring in 2-3 top quality players in January who knows? Mind you that means spending money which as we all know Daniel is risk averse to unless it’s a cheese room.

Have we got a chance of 4th? Statistically yes, but as pointed out we need quality replacements and I cannot see Levy sanctioning them. We simply cannot go forward as a team with the majority of our squad. We might well beat the lower to mid range teams but we have toiled doing it. It is painful, but I never thought a switch could be turned on and we would play sparkling football under Conte. We have to sit tight and wait 18 months. That is a big ask, but it has to start in January.

Just because Hitchen didn’t like it does not mean we shouldn’t use it to the best of our advantage. The media spin a web of lies; that no one of quality moves, but if you offer the right money clubs will sell (Vidic, Evra, Van Dijk, Coutinho, Suarez, Bruno Fernandes). We just have to watch out for the diatribe spouted by Spurs sources if we again fail to get any quality in.

Our competitors for 4th are better set, even when Utd were in freefall they battered us! Utd simply have the better squad. The new manager isn’t even in and they beat Arsenal. We also haven’t had a ‘big’ result yet under Conte, we couldn’t beat an abject Everton team who are in dire straits. This is not his fault, it is Levy’s and his merry band of incompetent recruiters.

As for Arsenal, they have had a bit of a clear out, bought in some fresh players (spending a lot of money in 3 years), the media think they are amazing (because it is a narrative to keep their name in the mix), but they are just a bit better than average. After 2 losses to Liverpool and Utd they should now know their place, in the pot for 5-8. I would be surprised if Arsenal broke in to the top 4, as I would with West Ham and ourselves. It is just a matter if we can compete with those 2, but in recent seasons we have been found wanting. As a Spurs fan I WANT us to be better, it cannot get worse, we have surely hit our ‘rock bottom’ and now it is time to rise again. Let’s see what Satan Claus gets us in the January sales.
