“He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone” Teammate backs Bale to return to top form

By Bruce Grove -

Gareth Bale made a return to Tottenham in the last transfer window after he struggled for playing time at Real Madrid.

He left Spurs seven years ago for Madrid as one of the best players in the world and the most expensive signing at that time.

He has won everything that needs to be won in club football during his time in Madrid, but his final years at the Spanish side saw him play less and be sidelined through injuries. Bale also lost some of the explosiveness that was associated with him when he first broke through at Tottenham.

His return to Spurs has been eased and he hasn’t looked like the player who ran through every Premier League defence before he left in 2013, but he has been backed to come good for by Ben Davies.

The Lilywhites are topping the Premier League table and they have emerged as one of the favourites to win it, a fit and firing Bale will make that easier to achieve, and Davies says he will be back and has no points to prove.

‘I think Gareth’s an amazing player,’ Davies said via Mail Online.

‘He doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone – he’s shown what he can do over the years. He’s got the quality there and I’m sure it will shine through at Spurs this year.’

Davies added: ‘I feel like I always saw him at his best when he was with Wales so I haven’t seen too much difference in him personally.

‘But if you listen to the way people speak and how happy he is here, it is evident to see every day.

‘He is buzzing around the place and playing, not playing, he is supportive of the guys and having someone of his presence and the history of winning stuff like he has got, lifts everyone here.’
