Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Paolo Gazzaniga will deputize for Hugo Lloris if the skipper is injured for Saturday’s trip to Burnley.
The Frenchman has missed our last two matches with a groin strain, with Gazzaniga playing in the 3-2 defeat to Wolves and Michel Vorm, for the first time in 17 months, called up for Wednesday’s FA Cup exit to Norwich.

Mourinho is hopeful that Lloris will be fit to return at Turf Moor, but did reveal to his pre-match press conference that Gazzaniga, whom he describes as “second choice”, will be his contingency plan ahead of Vorm.

Gazzaniga’s recent displays haven’t exactly filled me with confidence either, but I’m relieved to hear he hasn’t fallen behind Vorm in the hierarchy.
