Former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen ready to return after cardiac arrest scare

By Eddie Razo -

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen appears to be making his way to a return to the pitch.

After suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 while playing for Denmark, the 29-year-old could make a return to group training by the end of this month. Eriksen’s representative, Martin Schoots, spoke to Sportsmail and provided an update on the playing status.

“It is going really well for Christian,” Schoots said. “He had all the checks just before Christmas, and the results were so good that we expect him to be involved in a group training with a team sometime later in January.

“But I would prefer Christian to talk about this himself, and he will do so very soon.”

Eriksen recently had his deal with Inter Milan terminated by mutual consent after the midfielder had an ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) implanted into him to regulate his heartbeat.

The Daily Mail also reports that the former Tottenham midfielder is garnering interest from Premier League clubs when Eriksen is fit to see the pitch. There are no specific details as to which clubs are interested; nonetheless, a return to a league he’s familiar with seems like an ideal move.

The Denmark has plenty of experience in England’s top-flight league. In 305 appearances with Spurs, he scored 69 goals while registering 90 assists.

Hope his progressing well but the idea of hiring Christian Eriksen would sum us up. Victim of a heart attack and on a free..must be good. Cannot for the life of me see this working out..

Yes perhaps he could teach our plebs how to take decent direct free kicks.
I can just imagine Levy saying we don’t need a playmaker if Eriksen comes back as a coach, as he can teach somebody the role!

Christian never had fantastic pace to begin with so the pacemaker might actually help. Seriously, it’s great to see that he’s feeling well enough to consider playing again. If the docs sign off we can certainly use a creative CAM, but I would put a clause in his contract banning him from taking corners. Also, I hate short corners unrelated.

If the medics pass him as fit then fair play to him. Though you’d wonder if the pace and physicality of the Premier League would be suited to him now.

Italy was pretty perfect for his skill set maybe the warmer climate of Spain and that healthy Mediterranean diet would help him more.

surely it would be prudent by Spurs to offer him a coaching role at the club ?
Technically gifted and with great vision , please do not lose this source of potential . Its not that difficult to see this man being considered as a manager of club or country in the coming years ?
We owe him , we love him and although a slightly unfortunate way to end his Spurs career , Christian will always be a Lilly at heart .
Give or offer him an opportunity to show his class once more .

I understand people love playing footy, but if I were him I think I’d be sitting on my millions and maybe thinking about a new career in punditry. I seem to recall he’s a good talker and you know the broadcasters would snap him up!
