Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp could see Antonio Conte leave if the situation doesn’t improve

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is fighting for a top-four spot, but after their last two results, the dreams of playing UEFA Champions League football could be slipping away.

Furthermore, heading into this summer, many hope chairman Daniel Levy will back Conte financially to make the significant changes to makeover the squad that will enable them to compete with the top clubs in the Premier League.

However, suppose Conte feels Spurs aren’t living up to their end of the bargain. In that case, former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes the Italian tactician could become “disillusioned” and leave the north London club if their situation does not improve.

“I do get the feeling that, if he sees that this is not going to go well, then he will think ‘I am going to get dragged down and finish fifth, sixth, seventh, or wherever outside the top four,’ and that is not what he is used to,” Redknapp said to TalkSPORT. “Obviously, he has earned it, but he has also been very fortunate to have only managed top clubs and top players.”

“When you go to Chelsea, you always have a chance to win things, and if you go to Milan or Juventus, you can do great jobs there. But I don’t think he will stick around if he does not see any progression. I think he will want to be up there, looking to win something, and if he isn’t, then I think he will become disillusioned very quickly.”

Conte will get another look at how far Tottenham is competing for the Premier League when they visit Manchester City this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s squad is on a scoring streak, putting nine goals in their last two matches against Norwich City and Sporting CP.

Spurs will hope that Manchester City has used up all their scoring boots; otherwise, it could be a long night.

Conte: Spurs ‘weakened’ by January business… so was he involved in the transfers? Not as much as we thought?

“I glimpsed situations that could have developed, then when you enter the situation you understand that something anyway … what happened in January is not easy.”

At home, yes. Away? We’ve lost there a few seasons on the trot, I think, sometimes heavily.

I will. We usually play City well but now that Dele’s gone we’ve lost our inside source there (Pep’s daughter) but I’m trying a new thing- staying positive- against all odds.

Is anyone here actually going to watch the City game on Saturday? I won’t be. It will surely be horrific.

Conte is one of the best managers in the world but he is not a magician and he said that himself, problem is ENIC expect magic while paying buttons.

If he gets ‘backing in the transfer market’ during the summer… then he’ll have a real chance to prove he is one of the best Managers in the World (even getting 3 ‘good uns’ in wouldn’t be enough for many managers to transform Spurs). I don’t see him shirking that challenge.

If he doesn’t get a few players in, that HE wants, I don’t blame him for walking.
