Former Spurs club chief Steve Hitchen front-runner to land with a Premier League club

By Eddie Razo -

This week, Tottenham Hotspur club chief Steve Hitchen presented his resignation from his director of technical performance position. Despite being out of work, Hitchen reportedly won’t be unemployed for much longer.

According to The Athletic, Hitchen is the front-runner to replace Marcel Brands at Everton following his December departure. Should the former Spurs executive head to Goodison Park, he’ll join midfielder Dele Alli.

When the north London club decided to appoint Fabio Paratici as its Managing Director of Football, the report states that Hitchen saw the writing on the wall that his future wouldn’t be at Tottenham.

Furthermore, with the triangle of decision-makers being Paratici, chairman Daniel Levy, and manager Antonio Conte, Hitchen was more of a figurehead who would amount to “bibs, cones, and balls,” according to an observer at the training ground.

Hitchen has had plenty of interest in the past Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille wanted to make him their director of football. Also, Newcastle United came to him following the Saudi takeover about the same job there.

So there are other possible options outside of Everton, should he not get the job there.
