Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham in the summer because the club wanted to start achieving things.
Their goal is to make a return to the top four as well as to win trophies.
The attacker has won multiple major trophies in club football and it was hard not to be excited at the prospect of having him back at Spurs.
But things haven’t gone to plan, and he is already proving Zinedine Zidane right for not giving him game time in the last few seasons.
Just like most football fans, Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish has been surprised at how poor Bale’s second stint at Tottenham has gone.
The Scot admits that Jose Mourinho would be frustrated at the fact that he has such a big player in his team, but cannot get a contribution from him.
Bale has already proven his qualities at different clubs and the Wales national team, so his poor showing at Spurs is a surprise.
McLeish told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “That is a frustrating thing for the manager, no doubt about that. What can you do? You can’t say you’re kidding on, you’re alright.
“Bale’s been around for many, many years – he’s been a talisman for Wales, he’s been a talisman for Spurs, he’s been the match-winner for Real Madrid and all Spurs want is to rekindle that kind of fire, that energy and quality that undoubtedly Gareth has.
“For some reason or other, I don’t know, we don’t know the workings of what goes on at the club. It is a surprise to me that we haven’t seen a revitalised Gareth Bale.”

Speak for yourself,I live in the present.Present Bale`s nothing but a piss taker.
This is coming to a head. Let’s sit back and see what happens.
Hes no worse than Bergwijn.
We’d all love it to work out, Spurs fans won’t ever fall out love with him though whatever happens.
The last time Gareth was about to leave Real Madrid his destination was China, that should have told us what his priorities were.
Reports in the Guardian say that Spurs do not have a clause in the contract to retain Bale for another year and that Spurs are paying him less than the top earner Harry Kane who they say is on £200,000 a week which is probably a basic salary as Spurs are known to to have a generous bonus top up system.
I’m no longer surprised….
