“Finished player” This Tottenham player comes in for some stick from these fickle fans

By Bruce Grove -

It seems that there is a lot of blame to go around at Tottenham following a lacklustre display against Arsenal at the Emirates yesterday.

One player that has come in for some stick is Gareth Bale, who was subbed off early in the second half after putting in a below par performance.

Bale had shown improved form in recent games and lining up alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min yesterday, a lot was expected, sadly he failed to deliver.

There are numerous reasons why Bale did not have the best of games against the Gunners, he hardly saw the ball, he had very little support from Matt Doherty down the right side and he was playing in a team where almost every single one of his teammates was underperforming.

None of this matters, of course, all that matters to a lot of these fans is the opportunity to have a whine and a go at players regardless of the circumstances.

Anyhow, Squawka put up a negative tweet about Bale and it naturally got the worms crawling out of the woodwork to have their say.

There was, however, some that did click on to what else was happening on the pitch and why Bale could not perform to the standard expected.

I know Doherty was poor but he gave very little support to Bale you say, true but what cover did Bale give Doherty, did he track back, did he help stop Tierney or push Tierney back by running into space behind the fullback?

A better question is why we bought Doherty when Tierney was available. I follow the Scottish Premier League and it was no secret Tierney was the real thing, a brilliant attacker and defender and a leader into the bargain.

The blame is in full flow today and quite rightly. That was a depressing performance by everybody on the pitch, barring possibly Moura and Lamela to an extent.

I didn’t hear it,but apparently during the first half Mourinho could be heard shouting for our players to get forward and press high. That certainly sounds the opposite to what we were watching on the pitch.

Half time should have been when Mourinho ironed out the problems and we saw a completely different attitude from the players. But of course this never happened and the fact Doherty remained on the pitch amazed everyone. That was down to Mourinho.

What was most distressing was to see the lack of fight from anybody in this derby.Mourinho shouldn’t have to remind the players and if for some they don’t quite get it then Kane at least should have made it obvious what this game meant to Spurs.

Form and league position should have led to a comfortable win,but that performance was totally unacceptable. What the long term remifications are is anyone’s guess, but the likelihood of kane and Son wanting to leave is a real possibility.

Then the almost inevitable bargain basement shopping by Levy will just perpetuate this cycle of underachievement.

Are we talking about the virus or the perpetual groundhog day of THFC under ENIC? 🙂

Informed consent is a basic human right when receiving medical treatment. A global vaccination program is being rolled out without that informed consent. Visit https://www.ukmedfreedom.org/about and become informed before you make a decision as to whether it is right to have the vaccine. It is your body. It is your choice. That choice however should be an informed one and not driven by political and economic agendas and certainly not the spin of this Government.

He could have whacked Cedric instead.

And according to reports there’s “no doubt of another wave in the autumn”

Oh yes, exactly what I’ve been saying. This won’t end till we end it. Come October we will be locked down again, this after millions have been lied to about the vax. People will get mad then but it’s already far too late.

Moura was moved out wide when Son went off with Lamela playing in the middle. I would have kept Lucas in the middle and played Lamela our wide, may never have seen the rabona, but might have got a better result.

#Bale is back?

Where’s that gone….gotta be quick to keep up !?

If you’re wanting a nice holiday after another average disappointment of a season then you’ve got an 80% chance of it according to criminal, liar and all round failure at everything he’s done Nial Ferguson.

That’s nice to know. When did it become ok that anyone involved in government could tell us if we could go on holiday??

Bale is an offensive attacking world-class player. It is no coincidence that neither Bale, nor Kane appeared in the game in the first half. the problems were behind them in midfield and defence. Moura appeared to be playing more wide on the left channel rather than through the centre where he was most effective during the previous games. Ndombele was very poor and Hoijberg was off the pace. Docherty is simply not of the standard needed and gives Bale no distribution of any quality. Docherty and Davies when they play destroy our forward momentum. They both receive the ball from our center-backs, Turn, stop and then pass the ball back usually with a flap of the arms. I noticed at the end of yesterday’s game Sanchez stopped passing to Docherty in the end as he realised it was pointless as the ball would come straight back to him. Before we go after our quality players we should take a look at the players around them who cannot control a ball quickly and read a decisive pass. Mourinho is too quick to sub Bale every time.No wonder Bale looked annoyed. He is hooked and Docherty wasn’t? How Bale was subbed for Sissoko instead of Docherty is a worrying concern over how Mourinho thinks. Bale even if he is isolated is still probably our best free-kick taker and corner taker plus crosser of the ball. Perhaps he may have scored from one of those late free-kicks had he been on. Ask me what Ali did exactly that was meaningful when he came on. Put a fullback like Requilion or Tierney behind Bale and see what happens.
