“Failed to impress”, “will listen to any offers” – Ange ready to sanction move after being left unimpressed by 23-year-old

According to Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold, the club are now willing to listen to offers for young right-back Djed Spence.

Spence joined Tottenham at the start of the last season for a fee of around £20m. However, despite his potential, Spence has not been allowed enough playing time to showcase his abilities.

He was signed under former manager Antonio Conte, who later admitted that Spence was a club signing and not personal preference.

With the subsequent signing of Pedro Porro in January, Spence’s playing time at Tottenham became further limited.

And it is now being reported that Tottenham could be open to letting the player leave this summer.

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Alasdair Gold shared his observations, noting that Spence has failed to make an impression on current manager Ange Postecoglou.

He mentioned that the club is willing to listen to offers for Spence and suggested that the player’s potential departure might involve a loan move, given that the transfer fee might not match the initial amount paid for him.

He said:

“Djed Spence, Spurs will listen to any offers for Spence. He’s absolutely failed to impress Postecoglou.”

“He’s not going to play this season unless there are injuries. The only interest thus far has come from the Championship for Djed.

“I guess it’s up to him whether he takes a step down to the league below. I think Spurs have to accept a loan because I don’t think they’re going to get a fee anywhere near what they paid for him right now.

“They maybe just have to get a loan, do well in the Championship, build himself back up.

“I guess this will be a good test of whether Djed is just comfortable sitting around at a Premier League club or whether he will be happy to go back to the Championship and kind of reboot, start again and show everyone what he can do.”

Southampton are one of the clubs interested in signing him loan but it has been previously reported that Spence believes he is ready to play in the Premier League and will need to be ‘convinced’ that Southampton are the ‘right fit’ for him.
