“Exactly what Tottenham need” Sky Sports reporter reckons this manager is who Spurs require

By Bruce Grove -

Sky Sports presenter, Michael Bridge says he would jump at the chance of hiring Antonio Conte as the Tottenham manager if he was at the club.

The Italian is currently out of a job after leaving Inter Milan and Tottenham considered employing him as their manager in the summer.

The Lilywhites eventually settled for Nuno Espirito Santo, but things aren’t going exactly as the club wants.

Conte won the Premier League title with Chelsea and helped Inter Milan to end the dominance of Juventus by winning Serie A last season.

He left the Milan club shortly after the end of the season and Bridge believes he has shown in the past that he is the best man to lead a club to titles.

With Spurs still waiting for their first major trophy in more than a decade, Bridge believes Conte is guaranteed to end that wait as the Italian will tear the club down and rebuild them as a title challenger if he becomes their boss.

He told Givemesport: “For me, the best manager in the world is unemployed and that’s Antonio Conte. But we’ve seen that he would want a guarantee about funds and power.

“This is a guy that wants to come in and rip it up from top to bottom and, as a Tottenham fan, taking my journalist hat away, I would have said ‘here’s the keys, you do what the hell you like mate because you are that good’.

“He had Victor Moses at right wing-back and still won the league on 93 points. You have gone to Serie A and completely broken the mould of Juventus. You are a serial winner and exactly what Tottenham need.”

Conte I guess will be in Newcastle not long after the new owners take over.
Wait for the crescendo of whines about oil money buying titles again. Stockholm syndrome fans saying about doing it the right way but without actually winning.

No way because Levy doesn’t give a monkey’s about success just making money. Conte is a winner Levy is a loser, they have nothing in common.

It’s the International week and presenters/reporters like Michael Bridge are too lazy to create new newsworthy content. A bit like this post.
He may as well of said “If i was Daniel Levy i would kidnap all of the players from the top 6 clubs and hide them in Joe Lewis’ house until the season is over. That’s how you can win the league”
Conte or kidnap? Both are equally likely to happen…..

Very disrespectful to Espirito Santo after a few months into his job on 12 points top of the Conference group and through to the net round in the League Cup. Bridge needs to pipe down!

This article is from fatasy land.Conte saw through Levy’s smoke and mirrors the moment he was approached,if he ever was.

The only way we could get Conte in as manager is under new owners who are prepared to invest heavily in the team, which means clearing out all the deadwood and bringing in quality players that will win us siverware.

Until then dream on.

A wise man Conte, not willing to deal with time wasters, bluffers and skinflint penny pinchers.

Conte is a winner. He knows that a massive rebuild is needed at the club and world-class quality players need to be brought in and not younger “potential” for future resale value. We have owners who will spend a billion dollars on real estate and will not invest any money into the football squad as it is a secondary business for them. They will do just enough to squeeze the biggest bang for a buck from the EPL which basically means they only aspire to qualify for European football and the revenues that generate and nothing else. Winning is not on their agenda as it takes to much investment. That is why Conte did not join the club.
