Ex-Blue worried about Tottenham’s transformation as they face his former team this weekend

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has made a fine start to the season and their most important signing over the last year is probably Jose Mourinho.

The serial winner has turned Spurs into title challengers in the short time that he has been at the club, and even Joe Cole is worried ahead of Spurs’ match against his former side, Chelsea this weekend.

Mourinho managed Chelsea and won three Premier League titles with them in two spells, so the Blues know what he is capable of.

His Tottenham team has turned their poor start to this season around, and after eliminating Chelsea from the Carabao Cup, they look set to win at least one trophy this season.

The Lilywhites are currently top of the Premier league table ahead of the game, but Chelsea isn’t doing badly, and they are third.

If the Blues beat Spurs at the weekend, they will move past them, but Cole isn’t sure that can happen because he thinks Mourinho has done something to the mindset of the Tottenham players.

‘I’m nervous,’ Cole said on JOE Media’s All to Play For podcast as quoted by the Metro

‘There seems to be something tangible changing at Tottenham.

‘They look like a team that’s got a little bit of strength of character now. The manager would’ve implemented that no doubt.

‘He’s cracked the whip, signings have been good, he’s got everyone on board.

‘That little touch he done with [Sergio] Reguilon where he said to him, ‘if you stop [Riyad] Mahrez dribbling past you I’ll buy you a leg of ham’, little things like that.
