Even former Gunners are hailing Spurs man transformation under Jose Mourinho

By Bruce Grove -

Ian Wright has become the latest individual to hail the transformation of Serge Aurier at Tottenham this season.

Tottenham signed Matt Doherty in the last transfer window and the Republic of Ireland man was expected to become the club’s first-choice right-back, with Aurier even tipped to be sold by the club.

However, the Ivorian remained at the club and he is giving Doherty a run for his money.

Jose Mourinho was hired to help the club win trophies and the Special One has spent little time being patient with underperforming players, so the players that he has been fielding are those that are up to the level he wants.

Aurier has been preferred to Doherty in top games like the match against Manchester United and the game against Arsenal last weekend.

He had looked like a player that would cost his team points previously, but he has looked assured in his performances for the club this season, and Wright has hailed him.

He said in Wrighty’s House Podcast: “He’s got them on side, when you look at the team from goalkeeper, defence, Hojbjerg really helps that central pairing for a start, Reguillon, even when you watch Aurier the other day, he looks like a different sort of player.

“I think we’re going to see less mistakes from him because he knows that Mourinho will not tolerate it, and he’s got Doherty who can come in and maybe take his position.”
