Levy Poised To Block One January Exit According To Matt Law

By The Boy -

Harry Winks is, we are told repeatedly, a player that is highly respected by Tottenham coach José Mourinho, yet the young Englishman has struggled for game time under the Portuguese. In the 2020/21 season so far, Harry’s made just 4 Premier League appearances. The loss to Everton on 13.09.2020, the win against Southampton on 20.09.2020, the draw against Newcastle on 27.09.2020 and the draw against West Ham on 18.10.2020. Only the Toon and Saints games were full appearances.

Matt Law for the Telegraph understands that Winks has become increasingly frustrated with the lack of action and might consider a loan move if he were able to get one that favourable to all concerned.

Winks’ problem is that he fundamentally lacks identity as a player. If you want to put together a compilation tape of his best moments it would take you a fortnight to try and round up clips. For Ndombele, Hojbjerg or Sissoko you could produce one in about half an hour.

I take a view that Winks, like Dele, needs to be sold so Tottenham can cash in before they are past their prime. A loan isn’t go to heal or transform either player.

If Winks can’t come to terms with being a squad player, then buh-bye fella, there’s the exit door, don’t let it hit you in the @#!$ on the way out.

Possibly the least talented midfielder to ever start a champions league final. Good kid, tidy recycler in possession, but nowhere near world class and not suited to Jose’s style. Villa or Norwich are about his level, sell him while he’s still worth something.

Winks is a good honest pro but not for a top side. His limitations are shown up against good teams and the fact he has 10 England caps says more about the pausity of midfield talent that we have to choose from.
A nice lad,but a move to a lesser club is probably best for all parties, giving him a chance to shine in more appearances and even gain more caps.

He comes through the academy. Someone down there should have seen he lacks range in his passing. If as a coach you make a player feels he has enough to make the big league he is going to work on those set of skills. Now he is being exponsed as a lateral passer who cannot move team forward. While it is Winks’s responsibility to improve the academy should take some blame if they are going to take all the credits producing first teamers.

Winks lacks a pass to his game. He is not a terrible defender, can hold the ball in tight spaces. So, i think the formation affects him more, he does play better as the singular holding where he has 2 other mids in front as outlets. His problem now is, he is 5th in line for the spot. Gio and Tanguy can drop in while he does not possess the skills to move into an attacking role.

Harry Winks is a decent player who can play in the PL just not in a title chasing team.
He’s a bit in the Tom Carroll mould, decent player but not exceptional. Oliver Skipp would replace him next season anyway.

Winks is that type of player that only Spurs seem to “Must have one”. No other prem club constantly has one on their books yet the list for Spurs is endless. Winks, Mason, Bentaleb, Clemence etc etc. Just an average player destined to be sold to Hull
