Our man Lamela had a decent game last night, which featured the reappearance of his rabona for the first time in 5 years, no less. Any excuse not to use his right foot his critics will tell you.
We were also treated to a flying attempt on goal (see clip above) which was another eye-catching moment.
Otherwise, the 27-year-old put in a solid shift in, the recurring negative with Erik is where is his career actually going? I take a view that as soon he is fit enough to be realistically sold, then he must be moved on, without sentiment.
- Passing accuracy 76%
- Attempts on goal 2
- Attacking third passes 4/9
- Take ons 1/1
I’m in agreement about selling Lamela, it is the right time. Having said that, his pressure in the forward third and intelligent build up play is important in this team, we lack fight which he provides. Rarely do the thugs from other teams try to take him down. Italy seems the best destination for him.
With the demands of the modern pressing game a player needs to be superfit and to stay fit, unfortunately Eric has never been able to stay fit so sell, he’s only 27, should still be worth something, a return to the Italian League might be in order.
