Eric Dier reveals how Tottenham and Man Utd players interacted for England after thrashing

By Bruce Grove -

Spurs last game was against Manchester United and the Lilywhites completely demolished the Red Devils with a 6-1 win at Old Trafford.

The players had to report to their national team after that game and several players who played that game would be in the same England squad.

Spurs centre back, Eric Dier has opened up on whether it was awkward for the players to meet each other again after such a result.

However, the former Sporting Lisbon man claims that he and his other Tottenham teammates in the national team have nothing but respect for their counterparts at United.

He admitted that he has also found himself in their shoes before now and he just thinks that coming to the national team was a welcome distraction for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s players.

He added that the United contingent will have been in a very difficult position when they joined the England camp, but the routine there will help them forget the game.

“I have been in that place, coming into international camps after losing to players in the team the game before,” he said via The Independent.

“Personally and all the Tottenham players have a good relationship with Marcus (Rashford) and Harry and nothing changes that.

“I am sure it would have been a difficult couple of days for them but once you get into the routine here and the focus changes I think it would have been nice for them as well to focus on something else.

“I have a lot of respect for them as players. That’s the game and every player goes through something like that.”
