Dribbles, Duels & Goals: Tanguy Ndombele’s Performance Was A Series Of Eye-catching Moments

By The Boy -

Tanguy Ndombele stole the show in our FA Cup game last night, and in the process undoubtedly changed public opinion in the process. People are allowed to change their minds, it’s a natural part of the human condition (or are you unaware of the divorce rate?). The Frenchman’s early appearances for Mourinho showed the odd spark, but the boy obviously wasn’t fit. He neither moved nor looked right. For goodness’ sake, he started off last night by dancing on the pitch prior to kick off!

Total successful actions 70%

Sure it was a short cameo, but 70% in successful actions is PRECISELY where a competent footballer ought to be. Add to this an 82% passing accuracy, and we have a player who is finding some real form.

Duels won.

Goals.

Dribbles.

That key pass.

Tanguy could turn out to not just live up to his price tag, but prove to be a seminal signing for Spurs. yes it was only the Wycombe, but let’s be thankful it was against anyone at all.

More, please.

Still not too convinced about Winks – he seems to put in a decent shift every now and then, but usually reverts to type, passing sideways and backwards without contributing much in the PL. At least with Sissoko, you know exactly what you’re going to get.

As for the more attacking player, that’s probably Lo Celso – but I wonder if we’ll ever get to see him fully fit for an extended period of time. When he played with Tanguy once (VS Leicester), it wasn’t pretty.

If you were more defensive you’d pick Winks or Sissoko with Tanguy behind the striker. You could be more expansive and play a more attacking player in there and sit PEH deep.

In the after match commentary last night Rio Ferdinand mentioned that he had shouted out to Joe Hart at pitch side about NDombele and apparently Joe Hart said that this this kid is a world beater in the making and absolutely first class. Looks like we’ve got a goodun here, ladies and gentlemen.

A special player. I wonder if someone can make the 3rd midfield spot their own (alongside PEH and Ndom, who are both undroppable); similarly, the 3rd forward spot is up for grabs too.

With Kane, Son, PEH, Ndom, Reguilon this has the makings of a fantastic side – we just need a proper CB leader type (or two), and possibly a GK, as Lloris is not getting any younger. It would be a travesty not to address the glaring weaknesses of the squad – once there is confidence in the back line, we will explode up front.

Kane should’ve hit that shot first time, such a clever pass from Ndombele.

Even allowing for the opposition,he was a breath of fresh air.I’m starting to feel we have a diamond on our hands. We’re seeing what the fuss was about when he played for Lyon.
I like Gio but he is a worry at the moment as it seems he can’t play successive matches without picking up an injury.I just hope we haven’t got another South American sicknote on our hands.
He is a trier, but it seems the rigours of the PL are too much for him.I would love to see him on form with N’Dom in midfield together in front of PEH.

We’re starting to build our attack around him and you can understand why
