“Don’t cheat the game” – Ex-Liverpool man tells Dele Alli to consider retirement

By Eddie Razo -

When Dele Alli left Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window to Everton FC, it was a move for him to hit refresh on his career. However, a couple of months since arriving at Goodison Park, Alli hasn’t been able to find his past form.

Alli has made six appearances with The Toffees, scoring zero goals and recording zero assists. Furthermore, the 25-year-old has yet to start a match under new Everton boss Frank Lampard.

In his column for the Mirror, ex-Liverpool midfielder Stan Collymore stated that the former Spurs midfielder should consider retiring from football.

“Dele Alli may decide he doesn’t love [football] anymore. Go and find something you are passionate about, and don’t cheat the game by going on a circus around other Premier League clubs,” Collymore said. “He’d be cheating the fans and clubs and managers of those clubs.”

“He’s gone from the next golden midfielder in Europe, to people asking if he is still a Premier League player. The answers can only come from Dele. Look in the mirror and be honest: Do you want to be a pro or not? Don’t drift for another five years because that would be a crime against his ability.”

A recent report suggests Everton will be looking to offload Alli before they need to begin paying Tottenham for the transfer of the midfielder. The first payment is coming as they have to pay £10million once Alli has played 20 first-team games.

As a result, Alli could be looking for a new club this summer if Everton decides that they don’t want to pay for the England international.

Everton don’t have £10 to spend on nice biscuits, never mind £10m for him. They could swap him for a Fox’s Classic collection. No idea what Fox’s would do with him, but it’s a deal worth considering.

It seems Dele signed a contract with Everton until June 2024. If they don’t want to make the signing permanent they will still have to pay up his contract or make a settlement that Dele agrees to, happy days either way for Dele money wise.

Nice work if you can get it.

We can thank Harry Redschnapps for getting him off our wage bill by all accounts, good lad!

Bet Dele gets stuck on 19 appearances for them for quite some considerable time.

Somebody made a terrible deal, nicest way to put it, at Spurs in that transaction. Pile it on Dele, well deserve, Frank is a total waste of time as a manager. I think because they did not hit the ground running with T
transfers and stilloin danger of going down, Everton is looking to save money, and I might say rightfully so. The team is still crap, nothing works including the manager so why give Ali more playing time to reach the incentive laden deal. While again Ali has contributed to this position, Everton is playing a very dangerous game, but because it is Ali people don’t want to see that he is being squeeze so they do not of to pay. The light went on about 2 gamds into the deal of how they can get out of it and not pay a dime.

He wants the riches that go with being a PL player but doesn’t want to put in the work in that brings those riches.

Who said Dele is lazy in training at Everton? Fat Frank? I haven’t read that anywhere. Everton have lots of problems on and off the pitch. They don’t have a clear style of how they want to play so it’s difficult to slot in a guy who doesn’t play a clear position. But it’s so easy to slate someone these days without substance.

TBH I dont care
Unless there is a clause about him being sent back to base then I really care.
We cant shift NDonkey and not sure about Lo No Sho either last thing we need is our Summer plans upset by failing to flush the Tottenham Hotspur toilet.

He should start a new career performing like a joker on Tik-Tok. Either that or return to his current level and rejoin MK Dons. What a wasted career. Sad really.

You would think that a fresh start elsewhere would encourage Alli to get his mojo back, but sadly he seems incapable of accepting the challenge.
Over the last few years his interest has waned and you get the impression that he felt his reputation was enough to get him by. Unfortunately that attitude is just not enough and his previous managers have all concluded that he is not worth the effort.A classic case of too much too young and he doesn’t have the mental capacity to decide on his priorities and push his off-field interests to the side.
Maybe Collymore has a point, but to continue stealing a living is the easy option. And you’re right Easty he is no longer our problem.

I agree he’s a rent-a-gob, but Ozil should have retired rather than waste everyone’s time so why not Dele if he’s lazy in training etc. If this isn’t true then it’s all very unfair, who knows the actual truth?

What a pile of excrement once again from that wife beater Collymore. All Dele needs is game time to get his confidence back again. As for Collymore? Every time he opens his gob I get this need for someone to shut it for him!

He makes a good point, I’d put Ozil in that bracket, even Pogba to an extent. Zero passion for the game that’s given them everything, since becoming super wealthy. Going through the motions, turning up to keep getting paid but with zero interest. I think Dele began at a high level young and he’s become jaded because he has so much natural ability, he can no longer motivate himself to play, unless completely on his own terms…
