Do You Want Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger at Spurs?

Rudiger at Spurs

Antonio Rudiger is a name that most Tottenham fans will know. The controversy over his allegations of racist chants from our home supporters (remember when they were a thing?) caused ructions galore and ultimately achieved little good. We all know that racism is insufferable and has to be outed without delay, however, a huge and forensic effort from THFC and the police, using lip reading experts scrolling through CCTV footage revealed nothing. It then emerged that Rudiger had made a similar claim before, that time in a Champions League game, and that also ended inconclusively.

Fast forward to the here and now, The Athletic believes that Mourinho wants Rudiger to join Spurs on loan.

From a footballing perspective, the 27-year-old fits José anti-nice boys template perfectly. Irrespective of whatever has happened between the player and Spurs in the past, and whatever has happened between the player and Frank Lampard in the present, Rudiger is a phenomenal talent and would comfortably walk into most Premier League starting XIs.

I’m a great believer in acquiring players with good character not just their ability, so with that in mind I would not even consider this guy .

Correct. This CB thing will go to deadline day anyway, Levy will attempt to squeeze every last penny for a discount.

If we’ve save monies on a forward have loan payments in for Foyth and Sess Clark CVC will go to EFL after 5th So we should have extra dosh to at least go half way for Skrinier. Why we’ve left it so late when we clearly need a new CB But can’t complain it’s been a very good window so far getting Skriniar would be icing on the cake It’s a no for me for Rudiger

It has to be click bait at best this is. It gets a negative reaction for obvious reasons because of what happened.

Dead as a dodo this one…

I always ask myself when we sign a player “does he improve the side?”. Toby did hugely when he came in for example. I see experienced cover at the most but improvement? Not for me.

Last week at WBA ,Chelsea got away with a Havertz hand ball before leading to a goal, yesterday a clear foul by Chelsea before leading to a penalty,is this not what VAR should be used for were the referee has missed both incidents. And it’s a big FAT NO from me for Rudiger!!

I’m trying to get my head round why anyone would say yes. Histrionics aside. He’s no better than what we already have.

So it’s a NO from me.

We haven’t sold Aurier yet and are loaning rather than flogging Foyth and Sessegnon…I’m not sure we have the £40 mill+ sitting around.

The Chelsea fans I know are entirely happy to see him go, rate all their other defenders above him near enough (well, obviously not Marcus Alonso currently)…and don’t rate any of the rest at all highly either.

They admit he isn’t rank awful but also can’t see him being the required standard week in week out in the PL.

Is he even that good? And if he is why do the Chavs want him out when they’re having defensive issues? There must be other defenders out there, who didn’t accuse the Spurs support of racism?

Have we no pride anymore? Look elsewhere ffs…

A big fat NO from me, my forever list of 1 who I never want at the club extended to 2 a few months back.

Setting aside the unpleasant history he has with Spurs, I don’t think I could trust him if the Chavs were to agree to a loan deal. Clearly not in Frank’s plans, I don’t see why he is suddenly suitable for us – even as a wind up for Inter. Perhaps the Skrinar deal is being held up by Levy’s refusal to write a letter of apology for selling them Eriksen.

Has anyone else noticed things have gone quiet on the
Kim Min-Jae option? Not that I know a great deal about him.

If we had a budget for a striker; and got one for £3m, with no ongoing option to purchase, you have to wonder why we’ve not concluded a deal for Skriniar. We’re so obviously in need of fresh blood at CB; and Inter have set a price, so are clearly willing to do business. Is this perhaps Levy reverting to type?
In an ideal world I’d have to give a polite ‘no thanks’ to Rudiger, but with the deadline now so close, he may end up our only realistic target.

In a word “no”. Admittedly my viewpoint is jaundiced by the cheating to get Son sent off and then the highly spurious ‘racism’ allegation. A phenomenal player he is not, merely a half decent CB. However, notwithstanding any of the above, I would be absolutely astonished if Abramovic signed off on the deal.

More likely Chelsea would try and con Spurs into dropping their pursuit of Skriniar, etc, with the false promise of a Rudiger loan and then renege on the deal at the 11th hour, leaving us high and dry. That would additionally then give Levy the perfect ‘out’ for not having bought Skriniar.

Oh dear god no. I have been trying to find somewhere for an outlet to how I feel about signing him. We have 7 players we are either loaning out or trying to offload on a permanent deal. Why make it 8? This has been an incredible transfer window.. spectacular actually. Every single one of those players signed I have understood, Rudiger for me would put a dampener on things. I honestly would rather we kept Serge Aurier. He may have a mistake in him but Sol and Ledly use to be greats for us, they too had a mistake in them even though people forget. When Serge’s Brother died he really stepped up for us when he didn’t have to, I think we should repay him by keeping him and giving him another chance.. He has started to improve quite a bit towards the end of last season too. IF we cant get Skriniar or Demiral that is.

I couldn’t care less if he beleives the moon is made of cheese, the guy knows what it takes to win things. Another winner in the enclosure. Thats all that matters. Its a YES from me.

In a word? Not really.

Oh, that was two words.

Not a fan of central defensive loans, esp from a fierce rival. Obviously has some strange attitude problem currently…driving across London and putting on a white instead of blue shirt might change that…but it might not. Same league, same problems?
