Dier being fed Haribo by Alli proves Mourinho had Spurs sussed from the off|video

By The Boy -

Feeding another person Haribo or indeed anything at all is something one might ordinarily associate with courting couples. Sweet for my sweet? Innocent affection like the famous Lady & The Tramp spaghetti scene. For less innocent, kindly refer to Nine And A Half Weeks’ – the fridge scene.

Jose Mourinho’s leaked Amazon video clip was a chilling wake-up call. What I’d been thinking for 20-years (bar Edgar Davids) was finally vocalized by one of the world’s most successful football coaches.

Nice boys. Wall-to-wall nice boys.

Many fans will be enchanted by this clip. I am left horribly depressed.

No, but that was not your comment. I would say his career has worse than stalled, he has gone backwards, not even the player he was at Milton Keynes.

Is it my “interpretation” that Dele’s career has stalled?

I have seen marines, para’s and a number of other “manly men” do this, hell, seen them do a lot more. In my rugby playing days I saw far more “intimate” things done in the name of mates messing around. Sometimes not just for messing around, seen lads “snuggling” in spoons after heavy night out, both guys were straight. This “interpretation” is all you. Team mates do silly stuff.

EDIT: may not have seen it with haribo, other sweets were available… Have seen it with many other forms of food.

I appreciate bonding and am all up for it. This isn’t bonding and it’s a corruption of language to seek to pass it off as such.

Perhaps these clowns could attend a flower arranging classes for their next adventure?

You do need a team bonding that gives that togetherness on the pitch, which usually works if you have the right type of strong characters amongst the group, namely people who lead by example, who make the weaker minded ones stronger to keep performing. It appears to me that nowadays it’s done in such a way, that it reminds me of companies who try to manufacture a team build strategy for their employees and give them idiotic slogans to repeat over and over, it’s bull, it’s not real leadership .

Isn’t there something weird about guys in their mid twenties gathering around like fragile pre-teens.No wonder Mourinho wants to toughen them up.

I wouldn’t knock the team bonding if it serves to make the group as a whole more resilient and committed on the pitch. The old Band of Brothers thing. Yes, I agree that the team are too nice on the pitch, with each other and the opposition. That needs to change to a more professional behaviour. I would also argue that, by being closer off the pitch, it will make those times where there are disagreements and personal criticism being exchanged during a match seem less personal and encourage better performance because it is coming from friends, not colleagues.
.
As an example, my local AFL team, the West Coast Eagles have an incredibly strong, supportive culture that led to overcoming a Premiership Grand Final loss in 2017 to a triumph against the odds in the 2018 final. That season was built on 3 drivers – Family, Football and (winning the) Flag. Last week one of the player’s 8 yo godson was tragically killed in a bike accident on his way to school and the player had the option to sit out the 2018 GF re-match at the weekend. He chose to play. After kicking a goal, in tears, he was mobbed by his teammates in celebration and togetherness. All were wearing black arm bands out of respect for his loss. So while the video clip may seem a bit camp for some, it isn’t necessarily such a bad thing.
