This clip of a team talk with The Special One is precisely what the mollycoddled Spurs players needed to hear and are hopefully still hearing. For all the good that Mauricio Pochettino did, there was an underlying vanilla to it all, a PG rating that football ought not to have if you are to be a genuine winner – which Pochettino ultimately wasn’t.
No wonder Christian Eriksen touched his face as the gaffer spoken, the whole set up at Spurs stank of safe space.
For those Spurs fans who’s go-to emotional response when things aren’t going as you might wish them, is to post “bring back Poch” online, I wish you well with the fairytales that revolve in your mind.
Here is our manager. This is my manager. This is a winner.

Sport at the rarefied levels of the Michael Jordans and Tiger Woods can exact a very harsh toll on the athletes their fellow sports people, family and friends. I have always been slightly turned off by the hero worshipping of athletes and the winner takes all mentality that leaves a trail of misery and broken friendships. Most sports people are going to be losers in the main, not winning trophies but I’d like to think sport has other rewards than money and trophies. I have seen a lot of retired players from the fifties, sixties and seventies when the financial rewards weren’t great say they wouldn’t swap places with modern millionaire footballers.
Sport at the very top is harsh. Michael Jordan in The Last Dance was inexplicably getting called out for being a bully. To be the best and play with the best you have to grow a pair and be prepared for criticism. British Gymnastics has had accusations of ‘bullying’ this week, but could the success they have had come without what was said?
So in the year 2020 people will be offended by words. Says it all.
Jose channeling Derek and Clive.
Nice work, that should put us detractors back in our places, Leaked?
No Poch being sacked leaks or other leaks, just a positive Jose is a hard man leak.
Great timing, Here is OUR team not Poch’s team, Here is our manager back him don’t have to like him. COYFS!!!!!
