Reports a few days back claimed that Real Madrid was afraid that they have will have to deal with paying the whole of Gareth Bale’s wages next season, because Tottenham will not extend his stay with them (AS).
This is because Bale hasn’t met the expectations that both teams thought he would meet, and Tottenham simply has no reason to want to extend his stay with them.
However, Eurosport is reporting that Spurs are open to keeping him with them for another season despite his struggles.
The report says that Spurs believe that it will be just a matter of time before Bale is back to his brilliant best and they want him around their dressing room.
Madrid had hoped that Bale would get back to form in a manner that would inspire Spurs to make his move permanent at the end of this season.
But the report says that Spurs will only take him on loan again for one more campaign.
Bale’s current Madrid contract will expire at the end of next season and if he spends that campaign with Spurs, he would have stayed in north London until he becomes a free agent.
Both teams are currently sharing his wages, and a similar agreement with Madrid for another season would be better than them paying his whole salary.

So, he might help us win the league, or score the winner in next season’s CL final. Or we might spend 18 million squid on keeping him fit for China.
