You can’t beat the feeling of scoring a goal, and this one must have felt really good for Dele Alli.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had to listen to some of football’s most respected pundits rip into him last week after the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool.

And he responded in the best way possible, by scoring Tottenham’s opener against Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon.
It was a goal taken with the poise and confidence of the Dele of a couple of years ago as he cut inside from Son Heung-min’s through pass, bided his time and placed a measured finish past Jordan Pickford.
And Alli had a message for his critics with his cheeky celebration:

It’s a terrible error from Iwobi and Son feeds Alli to give the visitors the lead at Goodison Park.

It will be interesting to learn the exact meaning of Dele’s nap after the game…
Son any should never have been shown a red, terrible by the ref. It was a reckless challenge but you see them all the time, Gomes stumbled and his ankle snapped. It was a shocking freak injury and not because of what Son did.
Meanwhile thoughts to Gomes and his folks, get well soon lad and hope you aren’t out for too long.
Anyone slagging off Son for the injury are clearly retards…
LC didn’t give the ball away any more than anyone else and if he did it was because he was trying stuff, not just passing it to the opponent like several others.
Thought off the ball and in forward areas Dele was getting into decent positions. It’s what he does and he’s slowly getting that back. He’s never been a passer, a tackler or a playmaker. He’s a 2nd striker or a box to box player, like Gus Poyet was.
Some people hate Dele for some reason as a persona off the pitch and they want to see him fail. He’ll be back and those people will be gutted…
For me ‘handball’ has to be clearly deliberate either inside or outside the box.
If a player’s arm or hand is motioned in an attempt to block or control a ball and the player is clearly aware of the flight or position of the ball then fair enough. Otherwise you aren’t cheating to gain an advantage and therefore you shouldn’t be penalised.
All fairly straightforward, when you think about it…
Erikson is a disgrace.
I actually was a little disappointed with LC. Thought he gave it away a bit too easy.
He has ability though. Needs to be thrown on the deep end now. CE was desperate again. No urgency. Wasting our time with him now.
Other than allis goal he was pathetic.
The few bright spots today included Dele’s finish and general attacking intent and Lo Celso’s cameo. He provided ideas, intelligence, movement and passing range.
We really need him in the side regularly, he can provide the spark to get us back at it again. He can be that important.
His arms were not in an ‘unnatural position’ (whatever the fuck that means) and he was obviously unaware of the flight of the ball anyway.
Yes you see them given but all handballs inside or outside the penalty area should only be given if deliberate. For example, I wouldn’t have given the handball against Sissoko in the final just because that cheating toad Mane flicked the ball up at his arm. His arm was outstretched so you can see the argument for it.
Anyone still saying that should have been a pen after the countless replays of it really do need help…
Never red. VAR and referee’s have lost the plot.
The tackle was a yellow at most. There was clear air between Sonny and Gomes when Gomes caught his foot in the floor and Aurier’s momentum probably did the rest.
Horrible, horrible injury and Sonny’s reaction was heartbreaking but it wasn’t his fault.
And the Premier League’s explanation for the card has just made it worse because if you follow their logic, any tackle could potentially cause serious injury so does the ref have to send everyone off ?
