Dele Alli missing from Tottenham squad again

By Bruce Grove -

Despite hinting at the weekend that Dele Alli might return to the Tottenham line up for their Carabao Cup game against Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has omitted the Englishman from his team to face the Blues, reports The Telegraph.

Alli has struggled to earn a regular place in Tottenham’s team this season after he made a very poor start to the season against Everton.

Mourinho is under pressure to win a trophy after Spurs backed him up in this transfer window with the likes of Matt Doherty and Gareth Bale.

He will not give chances to any player that will not be effective especially as he has a big squad and that is what Alli is suffering from now.

Spurs will take on Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League on Thursday and Mourinho is expected to rotate his team and rest several key players.

With such a decision, Alli was supposed to be given another chance to play, but the report claims that he has been dropped yet again.

The Englishman is attracting the attention of PSG who are looking to land him on a season-long loan deal.

But Mourinho says that he expects the England international to stay and fight for his Spurs’ future.

Our squad is like a big stodgy cake with only a few choice morsels in it.
