Spurs see a move for another defender rejected

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is keen to add a new defender to their team this summer. They have been linked with several defenders, but they have made Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar their top target.

They are in talks with the Italians over making the move for the former Sampdoria man, but time is running out and it seems that they are looking at other alternatives.

Il Messaggero reports that Spurs have made a move for AS Roma loanee, Roger Ibanez, but the Italians have turned it down.

Ibanez joined Roma on-loan from Atalanta with a view to making the transfer permanent for 10m euros after two seasons.

Spurs were hoping to tempt the Italians into selling the 21-year-old for a quick profit.

The report claims that the Lilywhites offered Roma 25m euros, which will have seen them make a quick 15m euro profit on a player that hasn’t played more than 20 league games for them.

Spurs will now look to continue negotiating for Skriniar. Inter Milan is keen to sell him too as they look for funds to bolster other areas of their team.

Both clubs are still in talks and Spurs hope to conclude the business before this transfer window closes.

The way this farce is going on I think we’ll need to extend the transfer window by three years to get him
