Dele Alli Handball – Decide For Yourself On 3-Minute VAR Call [Video]

By Joe Fish -

It was quite the afternoon for Dele Alli against Everton.

He opened the scoring for Tottenham Hotspur with a well-taken goal just after the hour mark, sending a message to his critics in the process.

But Dele nearly turned from hero to villain within minutes.

The England midfielder was the subject of a VAR review which took the officials at Stockley Park over three minutes to make a decision on.

A delay of that length surely determines that it was not a “clear and obvious” error, but the longer we waited, the more ominous it felt that Dele would be penalised for handball in his aerial duel with Yerry Mina.

Zoom ahead to 1.55 in the below video to make your own mind up…

What do you reckon? Dele’s hand was away from his body and clearly touches the ball – of that there is no dispute. But was he fouled by Mina?

It was just one of several controversial VAR incidents at Goodison Park as Everton snatched a 1-1 draw against 10-man Spurs deep into added time.

I agree Poch needs to lead the team through this. Can he?That’s the question. Two years ago I would have said yes maybe even at the beginning of last year, but now, I am not so sure. He needs to move forward with the team and take a “if your not with us your against us” attitude with the players. Whoever doesn’t want to sign a new contract then fine you are now subs at best on the bench and we move forward with who is committed to the team/club. No hard feelings good luck in the future but we have to move forward. It sends a message that you can’t coast through your contract here.

There comes a time when enough is enough, Eriksen has to be left out of the squad , Poch needs to show real leadership now with ALL the players , the arm round the shoulder is not working. Matters may well have been made worse with the unfortunate incident at Everton yesterday, so his management skills will be tested to the max, things not looking good imo.

Never one for the trenches, Eriksen best described as a “butteffly” always sitting on the periphery floating around the arena drifting through games generally to nil effect
