Dele Alli Flings Boot After Throwing Strop For Being Subbed…Again [Video]

By Joe Fish -

Anyone get the impression that Dele Alli doesn’t like being substituted?

The midfielder has been seen to throw his toys out of the pram on more than one occasion this season, most notably in Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge against West Ham, and when he punched the dugout at Watford.

Dele’s latest strop came after Mourinho hooked him with over 25 minutes remaining in tonight’s 1-0 Champions League home defeat to RB Leipzig, throwing his boot to the ground before sitting with his head in his hands.

I understand why this sort of behaviour gets noticed, as it looks rebellious and childish at first glance. But I don’t see anything wrong with Dele expressing his frustration over a difficult evening for him and the team.

In both of the two cases mentioned above, I felt Dele was unfortunate to get subbed, but tonight we played much better after the introduction of Erik Lamela and Tanguy Ndombele, showing more energy and attacking threat.

We can’t fault Dele’s effort though – he covered more ground than any other Spurs player despite playing 25 minutes less. The fling of the boot was a reaction to having little to show for all of that output, nothing more.

Your glass is always half full brother 😆👍 Worrying times for me if we keep playing like that. Riding our luck really we could have been done by 5 or 6.. Anyone can play if we stand off, give too much respect, give them time and space on the ball.

Interesting comments from Big Sam…

“The form of the whole side is smoke. What they did to Mauricio Pochettino was tragic. What they did to get him the sack was unbelievable, it was really out of order” Big Sam said on talkSPORT.

“Sometimes as a manager you can never trust your players, and he must feel very let down that the performances turned into what they did, and Jose was asked to pick it up from there and he has found it difficult.

“There is not the commitment and fluency that we saw from Tottenham over the last four years, which means there is great damage done to that squad that needs repairing.”

Perhaps he just needs to be less sh|te on the pitch and actually do something.

Dele is taking one for the team and its all Levy’s fault. RBL had 2 strikers on the pitch and one on the bench. We have one striker and he’s crocked. Last nights disjointed performance is all Levy’s doing.

Jose. This is how I need you to play to contain this team. If we had strikers and other missing players we’d batter this little team with another system. We don’t. I have no time to show you how to deal these lot properly so I’m relying on your hearts to help me out here. You all with me? Right. This is how we play… They only put a pen past us. Bloody good team they are.

We’ll talk about it at the next funeral. “Funerals are the new reunions. We are reuniting far too frequently” a mate said. I’m going to a “nine night” later. Another fallen soldier. RIP “yardi T” from WE LOVE SOUL”. Soul to soul dancer. Sad. 57. The world keeps on turning man. Enjoy life. The grim reaper got 5g now. He’d a laughed at that. 🌚

OK he may have run further than the rest of the team put together, but what did he actual produce. As far as I could see he had two good opportunities to score last night and failed both times. The simple fact is that the two substitutions made involving him were very positive. We had a more positive, aggressive and attacking edge to our game, albeit too late in the match. Why do we give first halves away?
Three goals at the start of Mourinho’s tenure does not alter the fact that Dele is way below the levels of performance he was giving Poch 2-3 years ago and he’s just not influencing games in the way he is expected to.He can strop all he likes, but just like Jan the other week the subs made a difference.

It’s like Jonny Taylor and a few other Taylors who’ve be making “whistles for 5 mins go to saville row and out tailor them (cut a sharp sharp whistle) put it on. Chuck the scissors tape and chalk on the floor and walk off. Leaving the door wide open. Osvaldo b standing there with his mouth wide open. “What just happened 😂😂 Oz bo. Call me. We’ll get over this together 🌚 Haringey man. But not anymore 😂

They deserved much more. But didn’t get it. Big up the players and the manager. We’ll go there FIRM and do em I reckon. 1 and a 14 centuries older than them. How can that happen. Come to the best stadium in the world and out play the hosts. Any big team actually. Incredible. That club needs a big beating by any big club. 0-6 should do it. Liberties. Gotta rate it though🌚

It’s very admirable that he covered lots of ground, more than his team mates. However, if there’s no end product it’s a pretty pointless stat.

That’s what we get with Dele. Lots of flicks and tricks covers lots of ground, little end product….. anyone remember Aaron Lennon …. great runs down the wing …. shit cross at the end of it …

Apparently Maureen for years now has been a master tactician, very flexible, adapts the style of play to the players he has at his disposal. Apparently he also adapts to the specific conditions and tactics of every single game…. All I see is extreme bus parking every game. I couldnt stand playing in that team. I can barely stand watching it too. So defensive and negative. It’s how relegation fodder performs all 11 men behind the ball, super deep, giving dangerous opponents the ball for long periods inviting pressure. We gave them loads of respect last night and apart from werner they were not good at all… No wonder united got fed up with maureen to set up like that at home is poor… We let them have possession, give them time and confidence on the ball to settle their nerves and strut their stuff on our home turf… Master tactician 😫 It’s more like the top players drogba eto essien makalele ibra ronaldo who has won him stuff over the years as opposed to any master tactics… Hard to be optimistic watching us now. Last night was litter.

If you’re not angry when getting subbed, either at yourself for having a bad performance, or the coach because you think you can affect and help win the match – then why are you even playing football?

One commentator said Dele had still run more km than anyone in the team 10min after he’d been taken off. Maybe Jose is thinking Dele has to play again in a couple days and has already run alot, Lamela needs minutes, and we’ve got a crocked squad with CL, FA Cup, and league matches all coming thick and fast for the next three weeks.

And yet some are praising Jose for his astute and timely substitutions. Lamela and Tanguy actually went out and played football and tried to create when they came on. Unfortunately, they suffer from fitness issues. Perhaps Poch cooked them?

I feel for Dele, he has to play the 70 minutes of Jose wanting to pack it in and play really negative. Then when they have to go on the attack, he takes Dele off. I would be fuming if I were in his shoe.
