Daniel Levy’s Crazy Price Tag Won’t Deter Harry Kane’s Exit But Direct Action Might Avert Yet Another Transfer Disaster: Opinion

By The Boy -

The endless speculation about Harry Kane’s future shows no sign of abating, and nor ought it to. Yet again Tottenham has a box office player on their books who would appear to have hit the Achievement Ceiling at the club that perennially talks a big game yet has only delivered one piece of domestic silverware in the past twenty years.

We’ve all been here before, under Daniel Levy Spurs have a considerable amount of form for selling their best players for big sums, once they realize they are unlikely to fulfill their ambitions in N17. Carrick and Berbatov needed to move to Manchester United to win trophies. Modric and Bale left for Real Madrid to attain silverware and Walker went to Manchester City for the same reason. All these players earned more money and won silverware after leaving Tottenham.

Today The Sun cites a valuation of £175million off Kane, and I fully expect that number to vary hugely as media outlets compete to add their own information to the story that will not go away.

Regrettably, a price tag won’t ward off suitors for the England captain, and the time for direct action is upon Daniel Levy, for the umpteenth time.

In order to keep Kane, no amount of flannel will suffice, Kane has been at the club since 2009 and the 27-year-old will have heard it all. Chapter and verse. The first step will be to offer Harry a golden-handcuffs type deal, with a bigger salary, and bigger bonus incentives.

The second step is to convince Kane that Mourinho will not just be given time, but the authority to meaningfully shake the squad up – and this is to include an agreement that the Portuguese will have the final word on all transfer activity – to which end that this coach will not have to suffer any more special offers.

If a player signs for Spurs, then he will specifically sign for Mourinho.

There are numerous squad players at Tottenham that are past their use-by date, and they must be moved on without further excuse or debate. This would naturally be part of the same deal.

If any other course of action is pursued, then the polite version of events is that what will then unfold will be ugly.

Kane leaving will be like the ravens leaving the Tower of London – and anyone seeking to put a positive spin on that… well, good luck with that pointless endeavour.

Then tell me how you gonna make Kane realise his dream of winning trophies he has been last 6 or 7 seasons here when do you think realistically he will win something? even if he wins the carabao cup do you think that is enough for a world class player? If you can not make him realise his dreams why you want to keep him? is that fair according to you?remember this is not the 1st time it happened to Carrick Berbatov Modric Bale Kyle Walker all of them left and won trophies that every player dreams why Kane can’t do that please explain what is so different in your view? Cheers.

I’m not disputing Kane’s status as a top player, I guess I’ve been realistic what is the point of keeping a world class player without backing him to win anything? If the club is not backing him to realise his dream of winning trophies I think it s only fair to let him go and seek wherever he can win something don’t forget he will be soon 28 that is all I meant cheers.

Yes… Exactly. I am sure he has had “assurances” that spurs building squad to compete. “One more year…” Type comments. I don’t want Kane to leave, I love watching him play, he is up there with one of the most talented players I ever seen at our club. I just think the team needs a good £100m spent on it, that will not come from the board, so Kane going well help the wider squad be better. Also give him chance to win something. Even you, as optimistic as you are can’t see us winning team trophies in next 2 yrs bar a fluke

Said it for a while too. Our playing squad worth about £600m really, about 1/4 of that is Kane. So the other 25 players are not close to good enough. This introduces an imbalance. We would be better and stronger to sell him and spread the money improving the rest. I don’t want to lose Kane, but short of close to £400m player acquisitions we have to sell him.

Kane AND Son will not go in the same window, not sure when Sonny’s contract is up but the stories of him not signing a new deal suggest to me that it is he that will be first out the door – Kane possibly to follow after the World Cup next year.

£100-£120m is more realistic, probably gets us a half decent replacement and a couple of defenders.

Fantastic Malcom Gladwell podcast about how the scientifically proven best way to improve a “soccer team” is to replace your worst players, not focus on star players – “the Kane money” should help with this.

Assuming we stop signing dross of course.

Kane won’t stay. Even if Jose given £1bln and told to buy who he wants, they need to bed in… But most importantly, levy won’t do this, Kane knows it and heard it all before. He too old to offer spurs another year, and being the undroppable player means his risk of injury at 28 is very real, which could stop any chance of moving. I don’t want Kane to go, ever, but if honest with ourselves, if any of us in Kanes boots, would we stay after promise after promise broken?

Kane has said openly he would love to play his whole career at Spurs if the club share his ambition ,,if he leaves its because lack of ambition again from out beloved chairman the highest paid chairman btw..all our semi finals and second place finish could easily have been winners medals but for lack of investment,,if you think all this Nfl.boxing.music concerts is going to be pumping money into the team you truely are lost ,,

Kane is one of the top 3 players in the world and you are saying if he leaves that there might be light at the end of the tunnel – there is no light at the end of this dark dark tunnel that Daniel Levy has created.

Big dough was gonna make on a regulars. We’ll get the show back on the road. Stadium gonna start earning again (Nuff events eventually 🌚 if Kane leaves tottenham he’ll leave England. Can’t see him going up norf or playing for another London club. He knows he can win stuff here (playing for another 5 years+ here .winning medals at another club I don’t think it would sweet him. Wants it at tottenham. One club man smashing all records.

Arguably the finance the stadium was going to produce meant that the club was going to have money to spend. Many players wages were bumped up. Maureen was brought in on big money. That was after Botch was given some club record signings and our wages went from 17th to 5th, above Liverpool.. I’m no fan of Levy after his treatment of certain players and managers.. But he is ambitious.. He knows it’s all about winning.. Otherwise Botch the patsy would still be our gaffer.

The figures that stadium was going to produce was ridiculous. I’m not sure people realise… The problem is Covid has stopped it all. Or delayed it at the least. And Kane is running out of time… I hope he stays of course. Winning here would mean so much more.. Really hope he doesn’t go to another prem team.. If he went to Madrid or abroad then it would be easier to take..

The ‘second step’ is key.. Out with our no good snowflakes.. In with more of Maureens SOLDIERS.. More Pierres and Reggys.. Players who will run through brick walls to win. Not players who hide or get nervous, scared and bottle it every time they need to turn it on.. Winners.. Maureen knows what it takes.

Kane has never been one to try and outshine the club. He’s a fan. Humble and utterly professional. Proper clubs build around those players. Love Levy’s bank balance nonsense if you want, but real fans aren’t interested in the constant resets of the ‘project’

Kane’s goals season after season did not help Spurs win anything I guess it is high time we try different way this may sound controversial but it could be a good thing for both parties ie Spurs and Kane to go their separate ways Spurs can become a team of 11 instead of 1 man team who is indispensable and Kane may realise his dream of winning a trophy with another team that wins cups every season I see it a win win and Mr Levy will be exposed big time cause he has to rebuild and invest the team to go near Euro places or there is no Europa and Champions league money and until he gets world class players and a team will be difficult for him to maintain status quo specially when he loses the likes of Kane Son Ali etc therefore you never know it can be a blessing in disguise for Kane and Co to quit Spurs, it is one of the scenarios I’m just shedding a light please do not take it personal cheers.

Kane was part of the team that failed to turn up in a winnable CL final. He was part of a team that couldn’t keep pace with Leicester. He has been part of a team that has lost in winnable semis and finals. Tottenham have lost 8 successive FA Cup semis. A poor Arsenal side keeps winning the FA Cup. Tottenham have lost winnable League Cup Finals and semis which is why they’ve only won 1 trophy in 20 years. Is this all ENICs fault. I’ve been at every one of these games and personally I blame the players and management. ENIC could have done more but the players could have done much much much more when it really mattered

Tottenham improved after Berbatov and Carrick left and they improved after Bale and Modric left culminating in ending second in the league for the first time in 60 years and getting to the CL final. I want Kane to stay but players leave and the club goes on. Unless you are Man City players will move to better themselves. Ronaldo left Man U; Suarez left Liverpool; everyone left Arsenal. It’s amazing in reality how few crucial players have left Tottenham. I think Kane will be at Tottenham next season

The new stadium is just a bigger piggy bank for ur beloved chairman..if kane leaves it is because of lack of ambition from our chairman .The team comes first in any sport and this team has been neglected..come on 1 trophy in 20 years .He actually is to big for this club sadly under Enic control
