“Could yet be key” Journalist highlights Tottenham man ahead of West Ham clash

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has had an inconsistent season and it is threatening to rob them of a European place.

One reason they made Jose Mourinho their manager was that they wanted a return to the top four and put an end to their trophy drought.

They have reached the final of the Carabao Cup, but they are lagging behind in the race for a Champions League spot.

They will face a West Ham side that is threatening to gatecrash the top four in their next league game.

David Moyes has turned the Hammers from a struggling team into a team that can beat anyone if given the chance to do so.

Mail Sport’s Nathan Salt has written about Tottenham’s odds of making the top four and claimed that this fixture is an important one in their bid to get back up the league table.

He claims that their Europa League win over Wolfsberger was a step in the right direction, but they need to beat West Ham to increase their odds of a top-four finish.

He writes: “The 4-1 Europa League win against RZ Pellets was a step in the right direction, albeit against limited opposition, especially as Gareth Bale finally showed a glimpse of what he can really do.

“Sunday’s trip to in-form West Ham feels huge and will be telling as to which side really is the threat on the outside looking in right now. Bale, who was subbed off on Thursday to save him for West Ham, could yet be key.”
