Considering what has been in the news over the last 48 hours it is easy to forget that Tottenham face a crucial game this evening against Bulgarian outfit Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League.
For 90 minutes at least we have to forget about the return of the prodigal son Gareth Bale and focus our minds on this game because a loss would be an absolute disaster and this game is far from a walkover.
This is a one-off game, there is no second leg and a result will be determined today. This really is a game that Spurs cannot afford to lose and it is imperative that Jose Mourinho picks the right team, tactics and strategy.
It is also important for the players picked to play because there are not that many that are guaranteed a starting spot every week, especially with so many new signings coming in and let’s be honest, they owe the fans a proper performance this evening.

Winks needs to be loaned to a club with a very wide pitch to suit his style, preferably in the Championship. He has as much tempo as somebody in A & E. .

Any bets how long before Levy dumps Mourinho? I bet Pochettino would get these players to perform much better, especially now there’s actually been some decent reinforcements, which he never got. So now Bale is going to have to come in and carry the team each game again. What has changed in the intervening period? Oh yeah we got 4 top 4 finishes, nearly won the league before lack of players hit us, and got to a CL final. But of course we’re so much better under Mourinho aren’t we?
In the last 2 games he has gone with a midfield pair of Hojbjerg and Winks then Hojbjerg and Sissoko, Is it any wonder we look devoid of ideas.
