After seeing his impressive Brentford side downed by Tottenham in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup yesterday, Thomas Frank has hailed Tottenham as a world-class team.
The Championship side has been one of the teams to watch in England over the last two years.
They almost reached the Premier League at the end of last season, and they have now followed that up with reaching the semi-final of the Carabao Cup this season.
Spurs beat them 2-0 to reach the final and Frank, whose side showed great spirit in the game, told sky sports football on Tuesday night via HITC that Tottenham is a world-class team.
He admitted that his side came at Spurs with attitude and bravery, and they had also prepared to not allow the Lilywhites to make their speedy transitions.
Spurs’ pace ultimately caused too many problems for his team to handle in the game.
“We played with a top attitude, we were brave, if we equalise there [Ivan Toney’s offside goal] then it’s totally a fair result, which is massive going here to Tottenham’s stadium” said Frank.
“Competing against a world-class team – they showed class with the 2-0 goal. We knew they had that transition pace and after that it was game over.
“We need to remember Tottenham is a good team, so maybe in the beginning, we could have pressed a tiny bit higher. But it’s a combination of their quality as well.
“We know with the pace and the quality, the 2-0 goal, that’s what we knew ‘okay, that could be very difficult to close down’.”
And Brentford had sold a couple of their best players so well done to them.
Cmon United. I want them again.
