Compensation Said To Be Deterring Champions League Regulars Bayern From Making Poch Approach

By Joe Fish -

Bayern Munich are monitoring Mauricio Pochettino’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur in the hope that he becomes available to be appointed as their manager, according to The Athletic.

The German champions sacked Niko Kovac earlier this month and had interviewed Arsene Wenger for the post, Sky Sports reports.

However, The Athletic understands that interim boss Hansi Flick will be given the role until the end of the season to allow Bayern more time to scope out a long-term solution, of which Pochettino would be first choice.

A source told David Ornstein, who is pretty well-connected within London circles: “Pochettino would be the preferred solution. If he and Spurs end up splitting, which looks likely, Bayern will do anything to get him.”

Interestingly, Ornstein’s source indicates that Bayern would only be interested in Pochettino if and when he leaves Spurs, probably fearing the huge compensation that chairman Daniel Levy would demand if they approached the Argentine while he is still under a long-term contract.

While there is growing frustration at Pochettino’s contribution to our dire recent form, this is a reminder of how high our manager’s stock is. Never before have we had a manager courted by an elite European club.

Equally, there has seemingly been little interest from clubs of Bayern’s stature in any of the want-away players who Pochettino is hoping to outlast at Spurs.

Something for the #PochOut brigade to think about…

I read on one site that “if Poch can and wants to turn this around then we should abck him” and I agree with that, my thing is though, I don’t think he can and don’t think he really wants to. I think he see’s himself at a bigger club.

Joe seems to trawl the internet for tid bits and makes articles… Similar to HITC… But better. Still feels very much like Joe and Harry don’t talk.

The Boy wants poch out now and jose in.. I’m not sure what Joe wants. Perhaps hes poch in, or on the fence now like many others.. Its a tough situation and opinions will differ…. I want poch to stay, and i want him backed properly. I want levy out.. What i want is almost certainly not happening.

Harry – its really hard getting a steer on this blog at the moment, there are some blogs written as though Poch out is the best thing, then there is Jose in, and others which disparage him, this one even states “Something for the #PochOut brigade to think about…” of which some of the articles on this blog are clear they in said brigade. I appreciate that you have multiple writers now, and all have their own opinion and are good at expressing it, it just a little hard to follow on here now. Would be good if at the least you agreed on the big parts of the club…such as Poch staying good or bad?
