“Classic Levy dirty tactics” These fans react to threat of 3 European sides gazumping Spurs on transfer

By The Boy -

Difficult to know precisely what the deal with Dan Sheldon is, whilst the Southern Daily Echo journalist claims to specialize on Southampton Football Club, the journalist’s coverage of the Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg transfer to Spurs has not been straightforward.

Initially we were told that the Saints’ player had been to Goodison and it was a done deal, but the Liverpool Echo swiftly dismissed the tale, and since then numerous reports have emerged, suggesting that the player is holding out for a Spurs move.

A number of fans have not reacted to the latest assertion from Mr Sheldon, that suddenly 3 European sides have now all submitted bids for the former Southampton captain.

None of the 3 sides have been named, and it will be interesting to discover if any overseas media outlets are able to flesh out the story.

Voetbal International had speculated that Ajax were interested, but that was over three weeks ago.

Sounds like levy proving for the second summer that it is possible to lose a 1 horse race. That said… If he so good and well priced, why are we the only ones interested? Much like Ndombele.

That was initially reported then swiftly denied. Apparently their bid was actually £14m. There’s a lot of bluff and counter bluff going on.

Didn’t they have a bid of 25M accepted by the Saints?

Except that Everton’s bid is probably lower than ours or the same! They just want more than is realistic.

Sounds like JMs first choice so get him TP.
Mind you if I was the Stains CEO I would say this “Pierre we have accepted a bid from Everton you can either go now or stay and play out your contract I will have nothing to do with that lot of scum”

Who has more than £15m to spend at the moment anyway? I’ll bet not many. Those clubs that do have it won’t be after this Dane.

Yeah this smells like bulls*** to me. Seems like Saints are trying to put the pressure on Spurs to make a higher offer. The fact is we were in the same position last season with Eriksen. We ended up getting a paltry sum for a good player. TSaints will have to learn the same lesson.

In the era of Covid and with 1 year left on a contract the value of the transfer goes right down. If we’ve offered £15m, that sounds like a good deal to me. We’ll have to wait until the end of the window though as it will take them a while to realise they have no other options if the player wants to come here.
