“Change his tactics, play the modern way” Mourinho given advice on saving his job

Jose Mourinho is under pressure at Tottenham as his team’s campaign descends into chaos.

He put his reputation on the line when he took the Spurs job to make them title contenders but the gamble doesn’t appear to be paying off.

They started this campaign in fine form and looked set to challenge for the league title.

However, things haven’t been going well for Mourinho in recent months and elimination from the Europa League last week has proven to be a tough one for the fans to take.

Under the Portuguese, the Lilywhites are playing a result-based tactic that only cares about winning the game, regardless of how they have played.

They won some high-profile matches, including against both Manchester sides in this campaign, but the tactic is no longer effective.

With the Special One under the spotlight in a time like this, some fans have advised him to change his style.

Goal.com asked football fans what he needed to do to save the season, here are some responses:

Calm down??? For the 100th time. Some1 said why are we buying a right back from Wolves? Alex Ferguson built a team from back, Schmeicel from Brondby, Parker QPR, Pallister Boro, Bruce Norwich, Irwin Oldham free kick specialist to boot. All good players in their natural positions , later the class of 92 all home grown. Yes ENIC need to go , but our scouting needs upping. Also we never needed to break bank for Grealish or Maddison etc. We need to stop hesitating in market. Spurs should win trophies, its only since Sugar & ENIC that its dried up. Poch showed how to do it with no backing

Although it’s been a tough week, all is not lost yet – I mean could be worse, Arse are 3 nil down in half hour against west ham!

Anyway, the answer is to just calm down, don’t panic and try to rebuild a bit of confidence, build a few bridges and generally try not to make matters worse!

All the ‘sack the manager’ and ‘the squad is rubbish’ posting in the world isn’t gonna change the fact that the season is only 3/4 over and we have to start to dial back the moaning and try to make the best of it.

We played some super stuff at Old Trafford. Very impressive. That day, Man Utd 1 Spurs 6; Villa 7 Liverpool 2. Spurs and Villa smashing the two greatest behemoths of the English game; I was in some kind of footballing heaven. I just had to record these memorable events for posterity, which I could return to from time to time. So I put a DVD in that evening to record Match of The Day and guess what? When I played my recording: NOTHING! My TV’s recording facility had gone on the blink (I think it needs retuning, something I haven’t yet got around to sorting out). To say I was cheesed off with this unfortunate turn of events is to put it mildly!
