Brilliant: Even Levy Might Double Wages Of £17K pwk Tottenham Target [opinion]

By Joe Fish -

It seems that Tottenham could be stepping up their hunt for a new No.1 after a horrible month for the club’s goalkeeping unit.

Paulo Gazzaniga and Michel Vorm have both dropped clangers and Hugo Lloris’ promising post-injury form proved to be a false dawn because he is now chucking the ball into the net every other game causing concern amongst some fans

Yesterday the Daily Mail linked us to Ajax stopper Andre Onana and now Rome-based newspaper Il Tempo (via Sport Witness) is reporting that Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha is also on the shortlist to dethrone the skipper.

Strakosha has earned himself a reputation as one of the best stoppers in Serie A with nine clean sheets this season – a division high – and is contracted to Lazio until 2022 so it may not be easy to acquire.

However, Il Tempo understands that even the penny pinchers at Spurs would be in a position to offer the 24-year-old a significant wage rise as he ‘only’ earns €1m per year at the Biancocelesti. This equates to around £17,000 per week, which Lazio are trying to double according to reports.

I haven’t seen Strakosha play but I’m just relieved we’re starting to see some names linked as Lloris successors, as I think this is among the top priorities for a summer where most positions are a priority of sorts.

Levy got lucky one time and predictably destroyed it.

We should go for Dominik Greif. I watched a couple of he EL games, and oh my, have never seen such a tall and at the same time agile and athletic goalkeeper. Reminds me of Oblak. And very smart and composed for his young age. Would be the best bargain since Dele Alli 5m deal

Hugo will be missed around the place, if we can get better it won’t be a problem.

As long as it’s a cheap option for Spurs, then it will be an attractive one. Levy always takes the cheap option which is why he is such an incompetent in the transfer market. Has nobody explained to him that you get what you pay for in life? Cheap options taken by a cheapskate. the only thing that isn’t cheap at Spurs apart from the ticket prices is Levy’s salary.
