Brad Friedel “Certain” Levy Will Sell Kane On One Condition

By The Boy -

For anyone shocked by the news that even a club stalwart like Brad Friedel thinks Harry Kane’s days are numbered when the price is right, and that the economic damage caused by COVID-19 could be the catalyst for the Spurs chairman to take an offer sooner, rather than later.

Brad Friedel was talking to Ladbrokes on behalf of The Boy Hotspur.

I take a view that Brad may be underestimating Kane’s desire for silverware. 28 this summer, Harry is a pro athlete and to date has won absolutely nothing. Whilst I do believe the England captain has heavily bought into the whole ‘he’s one of our own’ business, the truth is unless something seismic happens very soon, Kane will go down in history as a player who wasted his career at Tottenham. That may offend the sensibilities of some, but the years have trickled by and big-time players have spent them collecting honours.

These are Kane’s prime years, he has a serial winner as his coach, a billion-pound stadium, and too many team-mates who are past their sell-by date.

Players who went on to bigger things. Sheringham, Carragher, Berbatov, Modric, Bale, Walker ….

HK is good at what he does, just like the above. He will success where ever he goes.

We have a 22 year history of selling the family silver. Most of those who end up in pastures new enjoy success, more money, trophies and an array of silverware to look back on. A career that generally has only one black cloud, the time they spent with us.

Kane needs to leave, he’s not going to win the PL with Spurs. He doesn’t want to retire and find that Robert Huth has more winners medals than him.

How many times have excellent players moved on to ‘better’ teams & failed miserably? Will HK fit into another teams style of play? Will he be happy rotating? He could look at Kyle Walker & think City is a good option to win things, rather than go abroad but Pepe won’t be there for ever.

Ultimately, he’ll need to put in a transfer request while he’s still under contract – will he do that?

A couple of years ago the figures quoted were crazy – 200 million etc, not any more.

If we sell Kane, it will not only be because he is tired of waiting to lift silverware, it will also be because the timing is right to cash in on his age and to avoid his likely depreciation value. I cannot see Barca or Madrid buying him as they are even more skint than us. That leaves a very narrow field which includes both Manchester clubs and Bayern as an outside possibility. Chelsea could also be a possible destination but Levy won’t sell to them and I doubt he would go there.
The pertinent question to ask is where will the money go? The fans will expect it to be used to strengthen the team or will most of it be used to pay down our debt mountain , so cleverly engineered by our beloved chairman. I know which outcome I would bet on.

If we sell Kane…let’s hope we get top dollar and reinvest it better than we did with the Bale money..
Not sure if top dollar will be offered in these pandemic times.
