Best Actions Against Arsenal: 94% Passing Accuracy & Hojbjerg Also Won All His Aerial Duels

Passes / accurate

Pierre Hojbjerg had another stand out game for Spurs yesterday afternoon making just two unsuccessful passes throughout the entire match. The hustle and the management of those around him was immense.

We were treated to a thunderous shot from a distance which, which fortunately for the Arsenal goalie – was aimed straight at him.

This is a typical class move from the Dane, who dropped back into defence to pick the ball up from the toes of two Arsenal players and proceed to effortlessly dribble the ball away to safety.

Always driving the play forwards, Pierre won all his aerial duels against Arteta’s failures. There’s a nice little ball from Reguilon to Sonny in this one, too.

Hojbjerg made 10 recoveries of the ball, which has much to do with his excellent positional awareness. José Mourinho’s congratulations to Mr Levy comment was not in any respect a throwaway remark. Our gaffer has turned Pierre Hojbjerg into an extremely expensive player.

At the time of the transfer I thought it was such a great deal, purely because we were getting a square peg for a square hole in CM for 3m outlay, plus KWP.
He is providing so so much more than that though to the team.
If Levy / Nike weren’t charging an arm an a leg in the middle of a global pandemic I would have his name on a shirt

Well, in terms of essential Mendy might be even more important to Chelsea right now than Hojbjerg is for us thanks to the form of Kepa !

Goes without saying you always need a first choice keeper you can rely on though (it was amazing after the expenditure Chelsea went into the season without that), and I’m yet to be 100% convinced Mendy is one of the best GKs in the league, early days. Silva is solid so far as expected, getting them organised.

With space to run Werner looks frightening, long may his finishing let him down because otherwise they’ve a good (and ideal for the Prem) player there.

Fair point. Whilst he is a classy striker, from matches I have seen down to a combination of good keeping and poor shooting Werner’s current conversion rate is seemingly disappointing.

The other 2 top signings of the season which I forgot to mention are the Chelsea keeper Mendi and the ageless classy Thiago Silva both of whom have tightened a leaky defence!

We needed someone to do the job Hojbjerg does for us more than Liverpool needed Jota, plus he was cheaper, and he has more impact on the way we play – he’s the superior signing.

But Jota and Werner are up there as great signings sure. Maybe Reggie for us too if he gets even better.

Whilst the Dane is up there in the top 3, surely the best signing of the season is Liverpools Diego Jota (£41m)? We could do worse than bidding for their out of favour Shaquiri!

Premier League signing of the season and there have been a few good ones picked up elsewhere.
