At least one Tottenham player is being positive despite the mass hysteria

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham cannot dwell on their losing start to the Premier League season after they were beaten 1-0 by Everton, that is the opinion of Lucas Moura.

The Lilywhites face a busy month of September as they take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League this week before another Premier League game at the weekend.

They will have loved to have earned all the points or at least one point when they played Everton at the weekend, but they lost and Moura is keen for himself and his teammates to get over the defeat and forge ahead.

He cautioned that they have to be on their best mindset in the game against the Bulgarians because it is a one-off match that offers them almost no room for errors.

He admitted that he and his teammates were upset about losing to the Toffees but they have to leave that behind them now and move forward and do better in their next games.

On the game against Plovdiv, Moura said as quoted by The Independent: “It’s only one game and if we lose, it’s bye-bye,

“We need to go there with the right mentality, very strong in our minds and go there to qualify, because it’s a competition we want to win, and we have the quality to win.”

On the loss to Everton, he added: “The players are upset because we know how important this game was,

“The first game of the season and it’s so important to start well, to start with three points.

“We need to look forward now and try to do better. We don’t have time to cry. We have another important game … and we need to be ready.”

He might not wanna go back to that $h!7 club after feeling the spurs love. They can’t force him to. He’ll love London but more importantly so will his girl.

A win win for Real, but within 2 years we will be a far better position financially, so it could be a clever stop gap. Real will only buy him back if he performs well. If he does, we benefit. If the deal is genuine, I would encourage it.

Spurs buy at £30m euros and Madrid buy back at £35m -£40m valid for two years,on a five year contract. He has his heart set on making it at Madrid,so it could be short term with Madrid paying Spurs for developing him.A great player at both ends attack and can defend, imo better than Chilwell.

The buy back is a problem if the price is low, but at the moment our options are limited. Beggars can’t be choosers. It is in the player’s best interest to play well, then he gets his move and we can earn a profit on the deal. If not, we had him to the list of European flops. He looked ok in the Utd semi, but I have seen little of him.

Regulion possibly £30m euros but Madrid have included a buy back clause at £35m -£40m euros and they can recall him within a couple of years.Sounds like if he makes it Madrid will call him back and reimburse Spurs,Utd refused any such deal.Yes Bales agent is trying to bring him back to Spurs I presume on loan, and it’s the first time I’ve heard him declare Spurs is were he wants to be.

It’s not just fitness unfortunately new personnel also required, missing pieces of the jigsaw, like what Bruno Fernandes brought to Utd.

Well see what form Everton’s Rodriguez and the rest are in come the season’s end. One game and people are losing the plot. Hands up I have done it myself, after that Sheffield United game, I thought the players had packed it in deliberately and were sending a vote of no confidence in Mourinho.

They improved after that and they will again when the fitness comes.

You do understand that regular readers here laugh at your “street” poser nonsense, name dropping, and mindless defense of the parasites running our club. A grown man, unable to construct a proper sentence – sort yourself out.

The same sources that went big on Doherty to sgn for Spurs are now saying Regulion to Spurs closer than ever.£27.5m with Madrid including a buy back clause something Utd refused.

Mourinho has been schooled in the ways of La Masia. Maybe, once he gets the defence in order he will impart some attacking tactics! (As if this hasn’t already happened, although how often have the attackers all been fit to regularly train together?). It would be interesting to see what the fans would be doing, Andy Townsend on the stream I watched said maybe it is for the best the fans are not in the stadium. Watching Toby play his 50th long ball punt wouldn’t be tolerated by many. We needed Lo Celso badly, just to transition from defence to attack.

We last lost to Everton eight years ago, with the money they have spent they have closed the gap and the law of averages on the first match of the season they got their elusive win. They could take points off other top six sides this season, being at home doesn’t have the same advantage without the crowd now.I also recognize how poor we played and devoid of ideas or plan.

Fans have a right to be concerned over the performances since January. Winning is obviously what fans want first and foremost, but our results did mask the quality of performance on show. The post lockdown game v Everton was instantly forgettable, but because we won, everything was ok for some of our fan base! Ancellotti has improved his team with 3 astute signings, all of which I would have taken at Spurs and we were far from looking like a team who were fit enough and had a plan. I don’t think Everton are that good, but they were better than us. Jose knows his stuff, in the latest Amazon docs he says the best way to win is by not conceding. He is right (I recommend reading The Numbers Game). He has worked tirelessly on this, but as a result, I think we look slightly clueless in attack and were had a midfield devoid of quality and ideas against Everton. Everything though seems to be directed to defending. When we beat an awful Leicester and Newcastle, Jose was a genius, but results and performances like Sunday’s don’t do him any favours. I blame Levy for not giving Mourinho the players he needs, but until that stadium starts generating serious income we will be waiting a long time. Mourinho might have been a better off coming to Spurs in 3 years time, rather than starting from scratch.

Lucas lost the ball TWENTY TWO times in the match. His headless chicken routine is getting very old. I like him, as a person, seems a good family man and clearly works hard. But all he does is run at players at a pace where he can’t even control the ball, leading to the inevitable result – going down blind alleys, getting tackled, and giving away possession cheaply while creating nothing.

Moura needs to watch the reply, he had one of the worst stats in that game..on paper we have an easy start to the season (excluding extra cup games) yet we are Tottenham, we will find a way to balls it up…..you could go back over 10 years on this blog and find the same problems we face every start of a new season, nothing changes…

Are you a Tottenham fan Bruce or a 5th columnist?
You seem to be digging out the (I will put a low estimate of 80% probably more) fans who are gutted about Sunday. Not a game you would expect to lose.
You think it is funny/clever to quote mass hysteria – not either pal.
